Notice a couple unid specials parked near Mouth of Elk river.Maybe waiting for tides or wx and another special tug to take it thru Canal
and into Delaware Bay,Those various McCallister Tugs all over the Ches Del bays.They own Baltimore and Philly for Canal barge traffic :)
Last year talking to guy who operates the NS Train bridge over the C+D Canal (Delmarva Secondary) a fellow Ham operator.
He says since Canal is run by the Fed Army Corp Engineers the ships get right of way and freight trains will have to wait for ship traffic.
Easier to stop a train than a ship.. Hear them locally on NS 160..800 and Canal traffic Ch 13 Marine 156.650
Once in a while that NS Train bridge gets stuck in the lowered postion then all commercial Canal traffic gets halted.
Its only about 100 years old :)
Finally moving north again, just made it past the Bay Bridge.

FRED 225 C-5CM 68-0213 into KDOV 0030z RON at Dover crew of 14 175k cargo.

Noticed FRED 225 flying the area earlier this afternoon.

GOLD 31 1715 local 83-0080 no callsign showing. Both req 110k fuel.
Another Travis KC-10 also showed no callsign 86-0029 also inbound McGuire?

SPUR 71 McGuire KC-10 84-0189 headed for the Arctic area 1720 local
SPUR 72 Travis KC-10 87-0123 1630 local Northbound.

I just noticed this Kalitta flight heading into Dover. Seems like an odd route. And that was before the descending loop.

That is Kalitta's main maintenance base....

Thanks to $5 million in state funding for construction of a new 747 aircraft hanger in 2008, Kalitta Air has entered into an 18 year lease with the Oscoda Wurtsmith Airport Authority. Kalitta, an air freight service, will maintain and service its own jet fleet as well as others at this site. Similar to the auto industry and the spin-off businesses that surround a auto plant, having the anchor of Kalitta Air has attracted other aviation-related business to Wurtsmith, primarily those providing maintenance and repair of large aircraft. A primary goal of the airport authority would be to position the airport as a hub for maintenance activities.

Seems the SPURS were working Montreal Ctr last night with Eastbound BONE 21 flight.

Hi Mark,

The second KC-10 was GOLD 41. Only think the first one was 86-0029 and the second one was 83-0080.

I spent many summers at Buttonwood Beach in the late 60's and early 70's along the Elk River where my Dad was a maintenance supervisor. I had a CB, RS Pro 2, RS Astronaut 6, and a Montgomery Ward Airline radio where I listened to the 2MHz marine freqs. as well as WUB33 the C&D canal operator on Marine CH13. I saw many US Navy ships go past as well as a couple of subs. We had a cabin on top of a hill that overlooked the whole Elk River. Brings back many memories. Thanks for the photos.

I had a CB, RS Pro 2, RS Astronaut 6, and a Montgomery Ward Airline radio where I listened to the 2MHz marine freqs. as well as WUB33 the C&D canal operator on Marine CH13. I saw many US Navy ships go past as well as a couple of subs. We had a cabin on top of a hill that overlooked the whole Elk River. Brings back many memories. Thanks for the photos.

My ex-wife's family had a place there in the mid to late 70's - maybe later ----it was at the base of the hill on the lake side. Definitely was good listening in that area. Plus the booms !!

1400- Getting fairly strong signal on 338.95 but don't see any TACAMOs in the area.
Yeah bring back the MAPLES to Langley :)

1335 local have 249249 miscode up Ron,prob the E-6B. Last two times up had SHADO callsign
but none so far here today.

The Travis Gold KC-10's and one GOLD 32 KC-135 into McGuire yesterday are reported to be for some A-10's to Lajes Tuesday.
Stay tuned.. Lately the USAF has been doing mixed ANG A-10 Unit deployments.
