Guys,

This was posted on another list. Some interesting "stuff" from yesterday's activity between E-4B Club 22 & one of the Andrews C-32's. I have 142.75 listed as a SAM A-A, but have never heard anything on that freq. Will put it back in my scanner.

"C-32A VENUS 7 rendezvouses with E-4B CLUB 22 over Kentucky and Tennessee at 1700Z.
Air to air comms between VENUS and SILVER DOLLAR on 142.75 MHz. CLUB 22 does not appear to be transmitting the usual UHF data stream at the moment. Later, at 1750Z CLUB 22 turns the data back on the 337.3 MHz channel as it reverses course once more and heads west.
Interestingly, VENUS 7 took off from Martinsburg, West Virginia instead of Andrews. MRB is near Raven Rock and Camp David."

Sorry I should have clarified my reply. I am quite familiar with the ground system both the vehicle side and the radar side. What I try to do is determine what airport the activity is coming from. I routinely pick up ground units from several airports (just depends on conditions). I primarily catch vehicles and other targets at KPHL from here in Villas. Roughly 53 miles away. Some units are the radar end and others are aviation police units, fire trucks and other vehicles. My site in PA being close the the airport routinely shows the Radar units.

Should have been a bit better on the explanation side.

They know you are listening so they wait until they are out of your radio range.

TALON 07 another P-8 doing the Niagara Falls tour this afternoon. Appeared to stay IFR and flew a counter clockwise orbit at 4000 just outside CYR518. Stayed with Buffalo Approach the whole time. No indication they ever called the VFR common frequency on 122.050 ?

Great coms catch there! Funny controller asks "You want to circle Falls for 30 minutes?" :)
Notice unknown Canada mode s 2b4ac2 circling Falls now.. Is there a Russian sub in the Niagara River? LOL
Notice if you zoom in that area on ADSB-X a lot of unknown 2b type mode s aircraft on Canada side.Seem like choppers.
I think the VFR unicom is for the low flying tourist choppers and planes.
Sometimes i think the Falls area is unofficial competition between Canada and US for surveillance.
Both Countries watch that area closely :)

I had VENUS 7 on the ground at MRB yesterday for about 20 minutes. Starting the evening of 7/21 there was quite a bit of activity on JNCR TG 22780 on Site 15 8-8 (Camp David) which is out of the ordinary. On 7/22 ENC JNCR TG 201 had most of the activity which is normal.

Not sure why it turned out fuzzy like that ? The original when I posted it was clear. Here’s a link to a clearer version.

They did call in on the unicom frequency. I went back and listened. Called in as a Navy 737. The 2b stuff are mostly small planes showing on Tis-B instead of full blown ADSB. I have heard all sorts of Mil Aircraft call in on the unicom freq. A funny side note with the unicom...

Early spring the FBI was working an op here in Buffalo and the usual C182 they have must be out of service. So we had a plane using the new super secret callsign "Kona 210" all week with the tower. So on Friday afternoon they wanted to do a Falls tour so I quickly dialed in the unicom and sure enough they gave their entire N number on the unicom broadcast LOL. Then I raced up to the airport and got visual confirmation also LOL
