I couldn't tell from the SYR archive ? Couldn't hear the plane, just the SYR controller saying "cleared as requested" and then handing them off to Griffiss Tower.
I haven’t gotten a chance to go up to check Griffiss to see if they’re there yet but a friend said he couldn’t find them.
I was at football practice when they would’ve been handed off to Griffiss tower so I wasn’t near my scanner.

All that showed up was PEACH 32, but it landed well before the B-52 was in the area.

Well actually the E8 was airborne while the B52H flight was airborne. Figure 1200 local to 1630 local your time based on the link. So technically they could have been calling them prior to your recording while they were airborne (but out of your radio range). No guarantee that the B52H flight knew the E8 landed (probably just a coordination issue). So calling them with no reply. Otherwise you may have heard the flight talking to the airborne other party. Just something to keep an ear on in the future. Keep in mind they have a greater range for communication when they are at 20K and higher. Could be nearly 400 miles depending on both altitudes and other factors.

After checking the tape again they did call SYR APP about 10-15 minutes after the handoff to Tower, but the sectors must have split and the controller immediately handed them off to that local KRME sector on 290.450 not covered by LiveATC. Callsign was actually TALON 81. I didn't hear them again after that on either SYR APP (sector covered by LiveATC) or ZBW08/09 up to 2200Z.

I’ll bet they went up to GTB then.

Wish this new Navy Destoyer would pay a visit here in Maryland before the Panama Canal.
Currently stopped up in Newport Rhode Island... More Pacific firepower.A couple years late out of the gate.

I was recently on Pax for work and I saw two of these planes sitting side by side on the runway, I’ve seen them come and go from Pax a lot in years. It also seems they are always changing call signs. Any info on what these are ? Used for ? Thanks

Chris,

These are the US Navy TACAMO (Take Charge And Move Out) airborne control aircraft. They are used to pass EAMs (Emergency Action Message) & other info to underwater subs. They can trail a very very long wire antenna to do this.

In official terms:

TACAMO (Take Charge And Move Out) is a United States military system of survivable communications links designed to be used in nuclear warfare to maintain communications between the decision-makers (the National Command Authority) and the triad of strategic nuclear weapon delivery systems. Its primary mission is serving as a signals relay, where it receives orders from a command plane such as Operation Looking Glass, and verifies and retransmits their Emergency Action Messages (EAMs) to US strategic forces. As it is a dedicated communications post, it features the ability to communicate on virtually every radio frequency band from very low frequency (VLF) up through super high frequency (SHF) using a variety of modulations, encryptions and networks, minimizing the likelihood an emergency message will be jammed by an enemy. This airborne communications capability largely replaced the land-based extremely low frequency (ELF) broadcast sites which became vulnerable to nuclear strike.

Co-incidence?

The FDM is clearly addressed to UNRIP (I have the whole message on tape and it is clear UN>R<IP on the repeat as well). Around the time when that E6 was up and recorded from 4.724

That particular frame arrived at Pax from Tinker yesterday
