0935 local looks like TURTLE-8 C-17 #90-0534 SB out of Charleston gets the Gitmo job..
I think TURTLE is Reserve unit callsign.
0945 local IROC-58 McGuire reserve C-17 #04-4131 just popped up out of San Juan Puerto Rico NB.
Coming home to some snow later.

2 WRI KC-10s staged to WRB yesterday (HOIST 98, 86-0035 and HOIST 99, 85-0027). Any rumors on who they might be picking up ? Or maybe going for maintenance, although I thought the KC-10s went to GSO for that ?

Looks like TURTLE-8 did quick stop at Gitmo now inbound San Juan or divert?
Cuba area is kind of like a ADS-B black hole.. Only computer estimates around there.
KC-10's to Alaska from McGuire are VINYL 71 87-0122 and VINYL 81 85-0034.
Rgr HOIST 98,99 must be for another trans country mission..

1815 local odd rare bird coming East from California #1706. (ADFE12) C-130H.
Former CG and now with US Forest Service as air fire tanker based at McClellan in Sacramento..
Seems on course for Norfolk Va area/Elizabeth City at fl270. You don't see those USFS types out East often.
Latest news I see from 2018 is that they never did finish (original contract 2013) reconfiguring the 7 ex CG C-130's to USFS.
Maybe this one finally was done or are giving it back to the Coast Guard :)

Radio callsign was "Coast Guard 1706". Started off in Hawaii the day before. Looks like it has been operating out there for awhile, so maybe they did give it back ?

Yeah listening to Cal fire guys on this on/off/on again program since 2013. Not sure about the Ca gov running this C-130 program.
Looks like they have ex 1708 and 1709 in Cal fire barn... Nice paint scheme.

Private company Coulson USA just bought ex Norwegian C-130's from boneyard and will prob have them in service in no time.

Maybe CG kept 1706 as got wing boxes fixed a while ago.

1829 RCH 518 with Dover ground via live ATC cleared to taxi but Captain says with runway conditions
we are not going anywhere soon... Lot of icey mush coming down now.
1842 RCH 518 calls ground calling it a night and will try tomorrow. Thought he was RCH 815 earlier.
Said we are heavy so wx is the problem.

See HC-130H's 1702 and 1704 still flying as CG down Clearwater Fla way today... Seems most of the new CG C-130J's went to Alaska and Hawaii.
Makes sense as they have a lot more territory to cover.. :) Still more J models on the way though but only about 1 tail per year.
