Mark,

Rgr. Slam is one of callsigns used by 149th FS VA ANG out of Langley.
SLAM's are A/A 259.000 which is MA ANG F-15's freq.Talking about icing wx maybe a problem later on way back.
SLAM on Huntress 260.900 talking to them about icing wx back at Barnes around 10 am.Possible divert fields later could be Atlantic City
or Bradley.

When I first turned on radios this morning, did hear short xmission on 282.3 (ZNY Matawan) which would make sense for MA ANG coming down from Barnes.

Slams are concerned about bad wx rolling in up in Mass, so trying to get contingency plans for RTB. Said if they can't get into Barnes they could try ACY.

Slams chatting w/Nice 11 about wx at Barnes. Expecting up to 8 ins of snow/freezing rain so Slam 11 says not going back there. Slam 1 gives tail # as MA 5-8122

0740- EGY 1127 (Egyptian AF C-130 SU-BAM) off BWI. Passed right over my house on his way out. Cloud deck too low for a visual, but couldn't miss that distinctive C-130 engine sound.

0859- Slams chat w/Nice saying their relief has departed and they will wait until Nobles get to CAP before RTB. Slams will wait until the Nobles AAR. Slams say if they can RTB within the next 30 mins they will be OK

0905- Nobles check in w/Huntress (260.9) and using 263.2 as A-A.

Thought I just heard SLAM say RTB McGuire ??

Yeah guess they are too tall even folded up..

GOLD-61 KC-10 85-0034 just off McGuire.. Didn't think we had any more Altrav's this year.
Afternoon All, looks like they head east 20th for Spain, onwards altrav 23rd for the Middle East, my guess to OEPS for an ACE deployment & quick return, out week(s) rather than months, GOLDS are to KNBC

Could be a new KC135 fighter.

KC-135 checks in w/Huntress as Nice 12. Now showing on ADS-B as Nice 12.

Nice 11 in chat w/Nobles indicated that reason they hadn't done CAP in awhile was that there was problem with runway at WRI. They couldn't take off with full load so had to go up to Pease and stage out of there. Indicated runway was fixed now so they would be doing more CAPs.

Staying low Ron. Heard push 126.050.Don't have that freq in my rotation.Out of my range anyhow.

126.050 is Norfolk Approach. Good LiveATC coverage. After that GOLD 61 was handed off to ZDC 132.025. Norfolk 126.050 airspace extends up to FL230 and this sector works the F-22s/T-38s between KLFI and W386 on 370.925.

Question came up in another forum and got me wondering.

Has anyone here ever heard a civilian ARTCC Center working voice comms with enroute traffic above FL600 ? I've never heard that myself.

I came across this while browsing through the ZBW SOP (2004).

s. Military Operations above FL600.
1. Security requirements of the military services preclude the transmission of actual Flight Level information above FL600.
2. Pilots will report their altitude as above FL600 or via code. A classified document detailing the codes is located in the control room safe.

Yes you will hear them talking to NASA aircraft. The ER-2 and the WB-57 both operate above FL600. Following the thread on RR as well

I just noticed now that the ZBW SOP makes specific reference to the ER-2 and WB-57 with regards to its "Special Use Frequency" 321.300. While not mentioning specifically that it is a FL600 and above sector, the 3 RCAG locations at Turin, St. Albans and Barnstable would give them complete coverage of all ZBW airspace from those altitudes. Anyone ever hear 321.300 being used in the ZBW area ? I'm wondering now if maybe some other ARTCCs have dedicated FL600 and above frequencies/sectors not listed in their SOPs ?
