10:39- on 298.6 "Devils push 11"
1040- Thought I heard "declaring an IFE"
1100- It is an actual IFE. Airport fire rescue was dispatched for a military jet coming in with engine abnormalities. I believe its DEVIL 13.
1143- Listening to the ACY online feed, just now closing the airport for the incoming F16.

1145- Ramon 24 (KC-10 # 87-0118) off WRI heading west. Haven't seen that tail # in awhile. Maybe he's headed for the boneyard?

1148- Wild flt up again (4 X F-16s ) working ZDC Ship Bottom (307.275). A2A is 238.175. Wilds working Giantkiller (249.8) for entry into the Test Track. Advise GK that they will monitor Echo Control on 320.45.

Reports say it may have been an MV-22 that separated in the water. Someone else says a C-2 Greyhound.

Navy confirms that this was a fatal crash. E2-D, likely Greyhawk from VAW-120. Frequent flyers at WAL.

I know everyone is saying E2-D, but that isn't a real thing, it is E-2D. I guess the former is good enough for government work.

An aircraft was transmitting registration 162148 and it looks like the ADSB track ends near the accident site. I know that these things can be fuzzy on the military equipment, but I still think that comes back to the C-2 greyhound. No other ADS-B tracks in the area at the time, until GRYHK40 shows up to circle.

How likely is it that 162148 would be on another aircraft? I don't think it is very likely, but possible, I suppose. Could it have been GRYHK32 or GRYHK63 running without ADS-B? 32 is also C2 - not sure what 63 is - or something totally different? Everyone speculates, but few back it up with any relevant information. "Navy confirms" stories don't even get the model right, as noted.

I don't know why I find this so annoying. Maybe because they lead with the whole Osprey angle, because of its history, the media was reporting what they wanted to be true for the ratings and clicks.

Whatever it was I'm fairly certain the mishap aircraft wasn't using mode-S. It's not uncommon for E-2Ds to not be using it.

A Luftwaffe A321 off Fort Worth Alliance airport and an A350 from DFW proceed eastbound in a possible VIP formation with the faster A350 maneuvering to stay behind the A321. The media in the A321 will get set up to cover the arrival of the A350 in Washington.

Were the Germans in Texas shopping for oil perhaps?

Assume will be inbound KIAD as they own a piece of Germany at that airport facility :)
