Hoping someday that Dover C-5M crew get same for evacuating 850 people on single flight from Afghanistan.
I don't think a Airbus A388 could hold that many folks :)
Was a C-17. They had the exact aircraft (01-0186) on display at the airshow a few weekends back.

Just heard NASA436 off Dover low over Coastal DE.

Never heard of a Liverpool NY.. article doesn't say type aircraft.C-17 or C-5M? Assume C-17.
Liverpool Air National Guard pilot to receive highest honor for bravery in Afghanistan | WSTM (cnycentral.com)

My colleague from whom I bought my current house was awarded eight Distinguished Flying Crosses and three Silver Stars. He flew Sandy A-1 Skyraiders in Viet Nam (and presumably Laos):

See:

Robert Carlsen - Recipient - (militarytimes.com)

I was in Anchorage, Alaska a few years ago on an early spring day and came across a ceremony at the WWII memorial in the Park Strip.

A gentleman was receiving a very belated Distinguished Flying Cross for saving his aircraft and crew in World War II by climbing into the unpressurized and unheated B-24 bomb bay to make an inflight fuel line repair. The citation for the medal was prepared, endorsed and then lost somewhere in a Pentagon file during the war. A young Penn Air pilot heard the story decades later, tracked down the paperwork and got the award processed in 2013.

I chatted with the guy on the left with the black hat in the first picture for a while about how much we owe to the Greatest Generation. I later found out that he was Don Young, Alaska's sole U.S. Congressman. Mr. Young passed away in March of this year after 49 years in the House of Representatives.

Hi Rich-
Two F-18G Growlers SKYBOLT (VAQ-131) were at KFRG for the weekend. I am told they are local guys and come in for the Jones Beach air show every year. I caught them on 249.525 departing Tuesday am. Also, RAIDER VFA-125 departing on 311.225 a2a and demo at the show, and RAPTOR demo departing 290.625 a2a then on Giant Killer.

Looks like Potus heads to the beach tomorrow night.

Guys

According to posts on another list, looks like there are some civilian-owned KC-135s running around. I wasn't aware of these guys.

Here are the tail numbers

N569MA (A7496D, ex 63-8009) Meta Aerospace scheme, old tail number is on the top of the tail.

“This aircraft (N569MA) is not available for public tracking per request from the owner/operator.”

N571MA (A75334, ex 61-0325) Meta Aerospace scheme, old tail number is on the top of the tail.

N572MA is currently registered as a B717, but there are photos of it in the old grey AF paint scheme.

“This aircraft (N572MA) is not available for tracking per request from the owner/operator”

N573MA (A75AA2, ex 63-8016) the old grey AF paint scheme

“This aircraft (N573MA) is not available for public tracking per request from the owner/operator.”

Both N571MA and N573MA seem to be based on the East Coast (poss Myrtle Beach)

Thanks Dan; They were close by when I heard them; almost full quieting on the scanner.

They provide the same contract refueling services as Omega Air
