Interesting that two kc-135s from Ohio EDDIE 41,42
tanked two C-17s that departed Oceana NAS RCH 311 and RCH-312.. Must be heavy hot loads.
From yesterday on these two C-17's showed that near Halifax after tanking they turned sharply Southeast.
Seems they went on down to DGAA Airport in Accra Ghana. Rated nicest airport in Africa.
Right on the Coast so maybe some offshore US Navy action going on down there.

King Charles leaves Belfast to go to London on KITTYHAWK 21R to join his mother's coffin which will soon depart for RAF Northolt from Edinburgh on ZZ177, an RAF C-17.

Her Majesty The Queen’s Coffin will depart St Giles’s Cathedral for Buckingham Palace tomorrow, Tuesday 13th September 2022.

Having travelled from St Giles’ Cathedral, Her Majesty’s Coffin will depart in a Royal Air Force aircraft from Edinburgh Airport in the early evening, arriving into RAF Northolt.

The Princess Royal accompanied by Vice Admiral Sir Tim Laurence will travel with the Coffin on its journey.

At Edinburgh Airport, The Coffin will be conveyed onto the aircraft by a Royal Air Force Bearer Party and a Guard of Honour will be found by The Royal Regiment of Scotland. There will be a Royal Salute as the Coffin arrives. The Band of the Royal Regiment of Scotland will also be present on the apron.

As the aircraft leaves, the Guard of Honour will give a final Royal Salute. The Band will play one verse of the National Anthem.

At RAF Northolt, the Bearer Party and Guard of Honour will be formed by The Queen’s Colour Squadron (63 Squadron RAF Regiment). The Bearer Party will convey the Coffin to the State Hearse.

The Guard of Honour will present arms on the arrival of Coffin and remain in that position until the State Hearse has departed the airfield.

Her Majesty The Queen's coffin will return to London | The Royal Family

1243- Local new chopper working ADW tower (118.4) trying to get some Thunderbird footage. Confirms that ADW TFR is until 2:30.

1248- Mussel 1 & 2 (UH-1s 1st Helo Sqdn) working on discrete (225.875)

1258- Hearing an unid acft (no call noted) working on 235.4 which I have as the NSAS Langley Ops freq.
I show 235.4 as VAW-123 (NAS Norfolk) air-to-air. I have other freqs for NASA Langley Ops if you need them.

See QUAKES arriving Hawaii.. Not dragging anyone so assume will be picking up someone soon
to drag back East.

Those DC area late night Falcon Virgo exercises have become so routine and predictable anymore I wonder why they bother sometimes.
Ready 1 Cessna CAP bird or a small pax jet.
Ready 1 Coast Guard Chopper or two out of DCA
Ready Two F-16's COSMIC from Atlantic City or Andrews "Angry"based. Hardly realistic when you know what is coming.
After one hour and a half or so call it a night :)

Sometimes it's important to practice things until you get it right... :)

It also reminds me of (for some reason) something I was told by a special ed teacher long ago.

I had asked about how doing finger painting was useful for her 5 students, each with very different needs.

She replied that
the first child is working on identifying colors,
the second with following directions,
the third was learning how to deal with "dirty" fingers and not getting upset,
the fourth was working on focusing on their work and not interfering with others.
The fifth was learning to deal with sensory overload issues and not wanting to touch the paints.

Basically one really thorough exercise that covers all of the bases is pretty good.

Upon reflection, what we (and they) should be concerned with is the weird things that could happen that they HAVEN'T thought of and practiced (like when a hijacked airliner is used as a weapon against a building (pretty sure it wasn't thought of as a serious threat before it happened)).

Thanks
Joel

According to this website the KRH callsign would be SPARROWHAWK. Looks like the Queen's casket was on KFR 01R. Were the KRF callsign would be KITTYHAWK.

I'm guessing the KRH SPARROWHAWK is only used for the current King or Queen and KRF KITTYHAWK for "other" Royal Family missions ?

I'm led to believe from your link that SPARROWHAWK signifies a civilian royal/VIP charter, KITTYHAWK means an RAF aircraft performing royal/VIP transport.

And, the King's flight today was a chartered Jungle Jet (Embraer), so I believe you are right, the callsign was SPARROWHAWK. Since the late Queen's plane was from the RAF her callsign was KITTYHAWK.

Maybe the 'R' signifies that a monarch is onboard?
