I programmed in Northumberland County, Pa. right from the database. All other trunked P25 systems work fine. Only with Northunberland I'm having a problem in that I have a full scale signal but system can't find the control channel.
Stumped. Any ideas?
Thanks

The database lists the site as simulcast. It is using LSM. Please attach your programming file so we can take a look at it. System type is P25 Standard. Band plan should load automatically. I have a BCD325P2 and BCD996P2. Both are prone to simulcast distortion. Someone in PA can give a more definitive answer. Try turning on the attenuator to see if it helps.

If all of the above fails there are other multipath mitigation suggestions laid out here, you may or may not see improvements. Preferably an SDS100, SDS200 or software defined radio would bring in this system much better

I didn't make any changes. Imported from here and wrote it into the radio. P25 set to 8. I'll go check out the above links. SDS is totally out of the question $$$. Thanks!

the wife and i wanted to listen to our local 700 simulcast system.
the 396T and 396XT were not doing well,, so we got a 325 and it sounded the same.
1/4 second of audio then 1/4 second of silence at its best.
they all worked fine around the county, just not at the house.
we then bought the SDS100 and all is fine.
we used points on a credit card to ease up on the price.
expensive yes, but they work !

I'm missing something here. If you are getting a full scale signal, that means the scanner has found the control channel. If it did not find a control channel, you would NOT have any signal showing.

If you meant to say you cannot decode audio, which is something consistent with simulcast distortion, you can try setting the attenuation on, or use a poorer antenna. In distortion, you are getting signals from multiple sites and that's confusing the decoding process. So less antenna is more with simulcast.

You can have a full signal and not be able to decode the control channel in simulcast environments - which can end up with the display showing that it cannot find the control channel.

You must've hit it on the head-exact symptom I'm getting. That clears it up nicely. Thanks

You will need to limit reception to one site then. There are a number of articles on how to address simulcast issues. Generally a less efficient antenna is needed, and perhaps a directional antenna that nulls all sites but one.
