Hi

Why not have auto Submit Data on RadioReference Database under the update section on the EZ Scan program. When ever they have new frequencies, talkgroups, it will have the right format and Submit Data to the RadioReference Database. and Have Submit Data to > RadioReference Database. under the update section on the EZ Scan. The scanner will scan the RadioReference Database website if the frequencies or talkgroups that are in RadioReference Database and replace the old to the new frequencies, taklkgroups. To Submit Data on RadioReference Database website login to Submit the new or replace the frequencies. Or cut and past the info from your note editor with the right format and past it to the RadioReference Database.

thanks

This hurts my reading comprehension.

Is this a question or a statement?
Within the last several months, ProScan has added a new feature called RRDB differences. You might want to look it over.

OP has a Whistler (going by mention of EZ-Scan). Proscan doesn't offer Whistler support. OP will also need a RR premium subscription to utilize said "RRDB differences" feature

I can't imagine that ending any way other than poorly. Info gets discovered, submitted, validated, reviewed and then posted.

I don't want some hack mashing submit and nuking an entire system entry with 'questionable' information they they likely barely understand.

Your process isn't quite correct. Data should get discovered and validated before being submitted, then a Database Admin reviews (per se) and published it.

Because it would take a major re-write of EZ Scan code and the Radio Reference database, neither are likely to happen. Also, if you find new data it is easy to download from EZ Scan to clipboard or csv file so you can manually submit the data on the proper RR form. If you are talking about data in the EZ Scan database, it is already in the RR database (since they download it from RR).

Are you saying that the Database Admins don't do validation and review at their level? That is what I was referring to. Many submitters may not have the ability to cross reference or do validation, due to scope of skill or ability.

Correct. A DB Admin can't validate what I'm hearing or seeing from their geographic location. I have to validate what I'm hearing or seeing by myself; and if I can not do that, then I have no business submitting any data.

What do you think is wrong with the way it's currently being done?

Data that has not been verified/confirmed shouldn't be submitted in the first place. You'd think that would be a given, however, not always.

Which leads to the second point, which is that any dbadmin worth their salt is going to review the submission for accuracy before modifying the database. If the member submitting has a solid reputation and history of providing good info, it'll be a quick review to check for typos and minor errors like that. If the member is unknown without any history, or a member has a lousy history/reputation, their submissions will be scrutinized very carefully. This often involves checking FCC licenses to make sure everything jives up, as well as reaching out to reputable members in that area to confirm the accuracy of the submitted data. And yes, we reserve the right to reject submissions if we determine that it's in the best interest of the database to do so. Submitters don't have the final say, the admins do.

tl;dr Don't submit unverified junk and you won't have any issues

PS - Submitting directly from within software is not going to happen, sorry
