SW Wayne County PDs

I've come up with a few questions about some PDs I listen to.

1) Does anyone know what is up with Taylor PD's call signs? When I got my Pro-96 (Xmas), they used either Lincoln-xx or the car number. Recently, they have used 9-Lincoln-xx and today I heard a weird one 9-Lincoln-5-Adam.

2) Westland PD. Is there any method to the madness? Trying to figure out what 5C, 2B and the like are is a pain in the rear.

3) If anybody listens to Romulus PD, do you have a problem receiving mobiles while getting the dispatcher just fine. I'm attributing signal strength to the problem.

With regard to Westland PD. Are you talking about their unit numbers? If so, you are probably hearing 1 man cars. For instance, there may be a call for 5A and 5B to go to a particular address. Then you will hear the two units talking with each other as they approach and get ready to call dispatch as being on scene.

Romulus does not have a repeater. Thus the low radiated power and lack of elevation of the vehicle's antenna limits the mobile's propagation.

Romulus PD is fully licensed for a repeater on 155.535 under their callsign of WPYW414. The input is 156.090 MHz. However, they have done a lot of range testing on the MPSCS and have shown a deep interest in moving over to that system when Wayne County Airport Police and Sheriff’s Dept. does so later on this year. Apparently, the new director of public safety feels that "interoperability" is essential when it comes to two-way radio communications. Sadly, the only drawback is the lack of funds to buy the new radios, but they are trying to obtain any grants available to help defer the costs.
