Tait programming datafile mismatch

Just got some Tait radios and first time trying to use the software to program them. When attempting to write to the radio I get a message to "update the data file to D5.4.04". My Radio's data version is D5.3.02 so I can see how that may be the issue.

The instructions to upgrade the data file specify to do so in single steps, but the only target version available to me is 5.5.0 and the computer will not allow me to jump up to that and is requesting to be upgraded to 5.4.4 before proceeding to go to 5.5.0. But I have no option to select a 5.4.

My Programming app version is V1.16.02.00

Would updating the firmware on my radio from V1.05.13 to V1.06.01 potentially solve this issue by bringing the radio more up to date?

I am familiar with Motorola and have had to update firmware before but this seems like another dimension I am not familiar with.

So I tried upgrading the firmware to one of the radios and that was successful, but it did not solve the issue. The program still complains that the data file needs to be upgraded to D5.4.04 but again I only have D5.5.0 available. Additionally now it also tells me to "please use the latest version of this software" so I hope I have not royally screwed something up.

You need to use the programming software version that corresponds with the data version it’s asking for. I had the issue on a TP9600 and had to move up to the next version of the software.

It‘s a similar issue to the Motorola “codeplug too new for this application” but in the other direction.

So the solution ended up being to not read the code plug then adjust and attempt to write.

But instead to just create a code plug from scratch in the program and then just write to the radio.

I did update the firmware on all radios as described in the second post.

I have a similar issue, however, it doesn’t seem to affect anything as far as I can tell! I have a TB9100 repeater base station… I can read the program from the unit and adjust the settings. Upon writing the program back to the TB9100, it tells me there is a ‘database file mismatch’ and then just says something to the effect of ‘any variables not defined will be entered as null values’ and then it writes the program and functions fine! Perhaps the firmware is older than the software. I need to do more research!

Maybe a Tait guru can chime in!
