Afternoon folks,
I will be heading down to Dallas-Fort Worth in May, and will be staying in Hurst. On Tarrents FW Regional Radio System page, the " Some talkgroups on this system are using Project 25 Phase II TDMA modulation which can ONLY be monitored using a P25 Phase II compatible scanner." message is displayed. Does anyone know what Agencies are specifically using Phase II, so, I don't spend time programming them in and find that they won't work... I've got a RS Pro-96 and 106 that I'll be bringing down.

Thanks

The only Phase II TGID's in use on that system at present are those related to Irving. You might be out of range of that site anyway (that's way at the bottom of the talkgroup listing).

You should be able to hear everything else from where you'll be, although there are simulcast issues with that system.

All the rest are P25 Phase I for now. I suspect that when Arlington, and possibly Grand Prairie, move over to that system, one or both of them might be Phase II, but that's a ways off, and only a guess on my part. Arlington is planning to go full encryption on everything, so it won't matter.

Awesome! I'm glad that I'll be able to monitor everything. I'll just be monitoring Fire, and no Law. Just how bad are the Simlcast issues? Will I be able to pick up FWFD from my hotel, in Hurst as well?

You'll want to monitor Layer 2 for FWFD. I work in Hurst and have a difficult time because I'm in between so many different towers. If you find a sweet spot where it works, mark it so you can find it again! :) Hurst is on a separate single site system, so they won't be a problem.

Sweet! How's Fort Worth's system, while in and around the city? I'll be in the City quite a bit too.

I pretty much live, work, and play the Hurst/Bedford area. There are spots where Fort Worth comes in OK, but there are lots of spots where it does not. I haven't been "downtown" a whole lot since they switched to P25 last year, but think you'll find it much better there. I forget exactly how many towers there are, but I think it's 6, so it's easy to be between several of them at once with the way they are laid out.
