Our renovation of the family room where all my external antennas and heavy desks will be going is taking FAR longer than anticipated. So, I set up temporary(?) shop in the master bedrooom. My idea initialy was to set up something temporary on my night stand. Well, reception was not what it needed to be so wifee and I came to an agreement for now. This will be my set up for now(?). I live about 435 ft above sea level at the ground level. This window is about 20 feet high off the ground. I am at 455 feet above sea level here. I didnt think that moving the equipment merely 10 feet would make a difference but I was wrong. I get the greatest reception on most of the bands with the exception of civil air. Im working on that though....I plan to set up at least one antenna in the attic above the bedroom just to improve things a bit. Im enjoying my monitoring for now! Now what to do with the ham stuff.....HMMMM!

Wow, I'm jealous of both your radios AND that your wife let you set that up in the master bedroom. I'm only allowed in there when I've been good, and even then I'm usually not allowed to touch anything. Ahem.

LOL! LMFAO. My wife read it and laughed too. It helps that she is a ham as well! She helped me study for my General and Extra upgrades and as it turned out, she picked up on it as well. Its funny guys to say this but this little set up is more fun than when I had the old desk set up downstairs all spread out, I dont know why!

Scannernut:

Very nice shack! Nice & neat.....just the way I like them. No comment on the wife situation other than you are one lucky.....;-)

P.S. I couldn't help but notice the old Radio Shack Pro-48 you have. I have one of those in my vintage collecion. What do you listen to with that one? By the way, those were not cheap back in the day at RS. I've attached a scan of the Pro-48 from an old RS catalog (circa 1983?).

Trip Back In Time!

Mike!
a Thank You for posting that flier. WOW! What a trip down memory lane. I use it to monitor the 8 Ambulance / hospital medical communication channels in our area (25KHZ. spacing) IE... 463.000 med 1, 463.025 med 2, ect...then MED 9,10 ( 462.950,462.975 respectively) are our medical control channels. This scanner is perfect for this. In our county, the channels are full duplex so no need to have to go to the 468.XXX side for the ambulance input to listen to both sides. Its in pretty decent shape too. No need for an external speaker. This radio is LOUD. There is a large movement Im being told, across the country to restore these as a way of remembering where it all started pretty much. Could you email me a closer scanned copy of that page? I would love to have it for old times sake. 25 years and still going strong. They dont build them like this anymore. It is one heavy little sucker....While looking at the catalog you posted, I looked around and found this on ebay from that page:
