Late entry

I was at Rt. 1 and Knox about 12:30..
It was not as bad a riot as in the past. Maybe the children attended sensitivity and respect training. Yea right.

There were 2 pieces of fire apparatus racking hoses when I arrived.
EDACS was minimal, PG ch. 8 was the command, as Tinear mentioned.
Air 1 is PG Helo, they were up as well as Trooper 2, I believe.
At least one officer had his cruiser vandalized.

Law enforcement and Fire should be applauded for the work they do.

FYI- Air 30 is shared by Howard and AA co.'s.

about "AIR 1" .. air one is actually ONE of TWO helicopters that is OWNED by Prince george's county.. totally different aircraft...as AA/howard own their own helicopters.. PG owns its helicopters as well.. the first bird in the air gets the designation "AIR 1" .. the second bird in the air (rarely up at the same time) gets designated "AIR 2" .... I was "AT" the madness that night.. route 1 was shut down.. about 3 blocks from the main campus entrance from route one... lots of idiots.....drunk guys.... yup... thats a college experience for ya.. GO TERPS!

A little late on this thread, but I can answer any of the comms questions as I was the technical person on site for both the UMPD and PG mobile command posts. As noted, nothing officially on the EDACS, PGPD 8, MSP on some of their Highband channels, PGFD 10, and UMPD just used their Dispatch TG....and our Park Police 4 legged friends with minimal traffic on our simplex TAC channel. Considering all the activity, things were very smooth with minimal personal injury or property damage. The microwave downlink of the FLIR from A1 was cool, when it wasn't shaded by Turner Lab building. And th ACU1000 saw no activity........

Tommy, good to have you aboard. When Air One was asking the Command Post about "having the "briefcase" and "having the package" - what was he talking about? Did that have something to do with the FLIR downlink equipment? And which of the MSP high band freqs did they use? 155.73 or 155.19 if you know?

Alan,

Yes, the down link receiver was a portable unit in a Pelican style case. As far as MSP, most would have been on 159.405, as well as 155.475 (NLEF). The MSP OIC was communicating with Trooper 2 via his VHF handheld.

Tommy,

Thanks for the great info....many of us have been wondering how 159.405 might actually get used - a prior poster suggested use by the STATE Team, but I take it this was MSP TAC troopers and not the STATE Team on scene. Given your inside connection, do you know if the MSP portables (statewide) have freqs other than 155.73, 155.475, 155.19 and 159.405? We understand the MSP JFK radios also have 151.475, but do not know if that's available statewide.

Appreciate your input.

Actually, the STATE team has been part of every one of these deployments recently. Can't comment on the channel config for MSP, mainly due to lack of knowledge.
