Hello:

I set-up a live feed for Bergen County & parts of Rockland County on Proscan. I'm looking for some folks to take the feed for a test run and let me know how it sounds. You will need to have the free Proscan client installed on your PC in order to access the feed. The free client can be downloaded at http://www.proscan.org/

After installing the Proscan client, just double click on my server name in the list that loads in the client: bergenrockland.dyndns.org and click start. There are no firewall or configuration issues on the client side when using Proscan. In addition, users will see the actual LCD of the Uniden BCD796 scanner I'm using for the feed, including the department name & frequency.

Below a list of the departments I am "currently" streaming. While I'm open to suggestions for adding/deleting departments from the feed, I do have a personal preference for monitoring the majority of what is listed below because I used to live in this area. Nonetheless, feel free to send me a PM if you want me to consider adding/deleting something. Also, if you know that I am missing a given frequency for any of the departments below, corrections are welcomed!

Bergen County Police & Fire:
Allendale
Fair Lawn
Franklin Lakes
HoHoKus
Mahwah
Oakland
Pal Pkwy
Paramus
Park Ridge
Ramsey
Ridgewood
Saddle River
Upper Saddle River
Woodcliff Lake
Wyckoff

Rockland County Police:
Clarkstown
Orangetown
Ramapo
South Nyack
Spring Valley
Suffern

Thanks!

FYI - In case anyone is interested, the feed is also being streamed to http://all.nj.scanamerica.us/index.php, however that one is "audio" only (no alpha tags). No software however is needed for that feed, in case that matters to folks.

P.S. Based on my test results so far, this feed will likely be 95% Bergen County based. Rockland reception is relatively poor, as I only have a back of set antenna at this point. That may change down the road, but not for a while as this is a remote operation for me (i.e. stream equipment is in NJ, but I live in NH).

Thanks - Mike

Your feed works well. I can receive most of those freqs myself at home and they're on time :)

I'd take out the Rockland stuff. I was monitoring your feed and my scanner at the same time (I have pretty much the same agencies in my scanner for Bergen County as your feed) and I felt like the feed was missing alot of transmissions due to the Rockland County stuff. Besides that it sounds great.

Yes. The Rockland freqs are not very strong signals... My Kenwood TK2180 received much clearer on the Rockland stuff than the radio the feed is from, its very scratchy on the feed. Fix up some of the bergen stuff and you will have a good bergen county feed.

Guys:

Thanks for the feedback so far on the feed. Appreciate it. I did notice that the reception on the Uniden BC796D I'm using for the feed, is not as strong as the Pro-106 handheld I have with me here. I get a much stronger signal for both Bergen & Rockland with the Pro-106 and it's stock rubber ducky. I do need to use the Uniden for this feed, so I'll have to play around and see how I can improve that one. Right now, I can only use an indoor antenna. When I come back down here for the Christmas break, I'll see what I can do with that.

P.S. Another scanner guy down here that I know just started to stream Rockland on the Scanamerica site also.

Having started scanning many years ago while living in the Ridgewood/Ramsey and still having family in the area I really appreciate the feed living here in upstate NY. I see that 158.73 (Ridgewood/Glen Rock Central Dispatch) is scanned but I have not heard any transmissions or seen it show up in the history. Is it possible you have an incorrect PL? Last I was down there they used 167.9

Thanks again for sharing the feed.

Hi Mark:

Thanks for the feedback. Glad you're enjoying the feed! The main reason I put this feed up is the same exact thing you stated in your post. My wife is from this area and I used to live down there myself for about 7 years. I always enjoyed monitoring the area (Rockland too) when I was there and have missed it since moving to NH 17 years ago. Given that there was no live feed for this area that included alpha tags, I decided to put a feed up myself while visiting family in Bergen for Thankgiving. Now I'm back in NH enjoying it myself ;-) Having remote access to the PC & scanner using Proscan from here, makes it all worthwhile too.

I did hot have the right PL for Ridgewood/Glen Rock dispatch (167.9) programmed in, so thanks for the heads-up. I just corrected that. I have 460.3750 (97.4) programmed in for Ramsey PD which comes in loud & clear. Any other suggestions/requests just let me know!

P.S. I see you moved to Upstate NY. I'm originally from Syracuse.

Thanks again!
