Interestingly, I've had this frequency (163.100) in my scanner for a long time now, and was just getting some use on it today in San Antonio.

163.100 CT 167.9- "Big Daddy" talking to "Bad Karma" about a location they were going to stop at before heading to a large retail store. I could hear 3 users, who were no more than 4 miles from my location (based on where they were headed) and 2 were coming in crystal clear. Couldn't get the context of their conversation enough to identify them.

hmm...thats really odd. I know that the freq. is a common general federal channel that was used by the tribal police in lawton oklahoma, but the unit numbers is not sounding like the tribal police anymore. im not showing a ct code or dcs or anything...its completly in the clear and some of the roads they have talked about has been names of roads and intersections in Wichita Falls.

Civil Air Patrol

Confirming from monitoring this morning -

Civil Air Patrol has a Dallas North repeater and a Dallas South repeater.
I believe the Dallas North repeater is somewhere around Addison Airport (KADS). It was confirmed that it still has analog capability, as well as digital.

The South Dallas repeater, surprisingly, is NOT on Cedar Hill ridge. It is actually south of the ridge somewhere, as there was talk of being on the north side of town and not being able to hit the southside digital repeater because Cedar Hill was in the way. So I'm thinking maybe the southside repeater "might" be in Waxahachie or Midlothian.

Looks like the output for both (analog and digital) is 148.125. Digital NAC for northside is 4CE.

There was also talk of an upcoming SAREX exercise for next weekend (I believe), so it might be worth a listen to hopefully snag any extra stuff.
Personally, I have not heard anything digital besides the 148.125 repeater, but this sucker is LOUD AND CLEAR wherever I am in the metro, so when they set it up, they did a very good job! :)

I was hearing a CAP Net yesterday afternoon on 148.150, CT 146.2 (San Antonio North Repeater).

Texas CAP 504 (from San Antonio Grp. V HQ) was net control.

From SWR-TX-424 Bexar County Senior Squadron, Texas CAP 5401 and 5406 checked in with the net.

During the net Texas CAP 4224 (N9510L- Cessna 172P) advised he was landing at Stinson Airfield.

I also heard Texas CAP 2204 but was unsure if it was a net check-in or a flight.

I'm going to listen next Friday to see if this is a weekly net.

I read about FBI chatter everywhere from Luckenbach to Amarillo, but never hear a word about any around Abilene. Like all other radio traffic here, is it nonexistent?

Just wondering...

Thanks

I'm hearing a lot of ICE traffic on A1 today in San Antonio, much more than normal. They've been all over town (Medical Center area, Alamodome area, Pleasonton Rd area) serving warrants. All simplex.

Yes rbarker, it's the simplex side of 165.2375, and A2 is the repeated side. I know Austin has an A2 repeater (I heard OTAR on it yesterday) but I'm never up there enough to catch simplex traffic if used by ICE.

You can find a decent CBP list here in the Federal Wiki or for the Texas listings, here in the Texas Federal Wiki.

See if you can determine from the Pre-amble of the net, if it's a
Wing, Regional or Squadron net...

I haven't heard the preamble yet, but I'll try to catch it this Friday on my way home. He asks for check-ins about every 15 minutes (I haven't stuck with it long enough to see when it ends either) but the only check-ins so far have been squadron check-ins from the Bexar County Senior Squadron TX-424.

2 questions:

1. How are these guys checking? Do they have CAP radios at their residence? I know they aren't in flight.

2. Is this just on the San Antonio North Repeater or is it linked to the South or other areas?

This CAP discussion would probably be better in the Texas military sticky but oh well.

The answer Depends and varies, by State/Wing.

Some folks have their own Radios, other Wing/Squadron issued

Some Squadrons hold meetings and the net is incorporated into the meeting time.

As for the Repeaters, maybe not linked, but Net-Control might be able to access more than one repeater. He might start the net at 1900 on One Rptr and then pause/wait as he accesses each of the other Repeaters, until he concludes the net in the Region.

I haven't heard anyone [New England] with CAP [altho USCG Aux has] using VOIP to access remote Repeaters...

back in the 1990's was labeled as federal Itinerant.. I have it in my scanner as AGA ( all government agencies)
