I bought an HP-1 as soon as it came out and I loved it! My only gripe was that I never really had a great place to mount it in my Subaru Forester.
About a month ago I decided to replace the double din car radio with a single din radio and a BCD996XT.
It all fit...it looks and works great and then I went to program it....THEY WERE RIGHT!!!!
When the HP-1 came out....many of the people on this site said this scanner was too easy to operate and "Dumbed Down" the hobby. THEY WERE RIGHT!
Before the HP-1, I had a BCD396XT and I knew that handheld backwards and foreword! Now I don't have a clue....or I should say "didn't" have a clue. Thanks to FreeScan and the easier to read BCD996XT manual, I'm back in business!
Now on 11/16 Uniden will probably come out with a single din version of the HP-1! My wife will kill me when that shows up on the Amex bill!!!!
