How does LAPD tactical and LAPD detectives fit into the ONLY ALLOWED routine dispatch and special events operation?

That does read... SWAT, tactical, narcotics and investigations with a comma?

This one looks like it may be a no can feed.

The RR DB has it listed as follows:
484.56250 67 Det Burgl Detectives - Burglary / Commercial Crimes

But all this is for the feed owner to certify & for us to confirm or not.

Tactical can mean 2 things. It can refer to a operation or group (Ex. We have a Tactical Special Enforcements Team), or just a channel (Ex. TAC 1, TAC 2, something the FD would use on a structure fire). Does this make it a little more clearer?

I know rdale will love seeing me type this but I still don't get it! For example... a district for my local sheriffs office may have 2 talkgroups. One is Dispatch North and one is TAC North. Can I stream both?

Yes, as long as it does not have any surveillance, investigations, SWAT, CID type stuff on it. Thats looks likes its just referring to the name of a channel. Our PD has TAC channels and those are used for car to car, thats what it looks like that channel you refer to as TAC is used for. What the policy is referring to as not allowed is the group/operation. I understand what your saying as this is something i actually see as confusing.

This goes for all feed owners:

1
Read here:Feed Provider Terms of Service - What can and cannot be broadcast.

2
If you have questions if something on your feed you feel is not complying with the TOS, send us the scan list & ask us this question:
Am I TOS compliant with what I have on my feed?

We will tell you yes or no per channel if needed.

Send your question to:
audio@radioreference.com (Live audio admin team)
lindsay@radioreference.com (Lindsay)

3
Or do as some other feed owners have done & submit a feed help request per each feed & ask us there.

This is better than repeatedly asking that same questions.

As an example... and this is just in my area that I know of... DISPATCH would be a TG where let's say PD UNIT 2 would be dispatched to 1234 Main Street. If 4-5 PD units are going to take a building down or surround it for what ever reason... they would all switch to the TAC talkgroup as listed in the RR database. I'm thinking this may NOT be a talkgroup RR would want streamed because some perp might be listening on a cell phone app. If the SWAT team responds... they my use the districts TAC talkgroup or... there own special SWAT talkgroup which I understand would be in violation of the RR TOS. In any event... if the first TAC talkgroup is allowed to be streamed... and it's not designated as tactical in the RR database... SWAT operations would have been streamed.

You can not feed any time:
The dedicated SWAT channels. These channels are for the SWAT teams only & the other PD units do not use them. The are dedicated to SWAT. Don't put these on the feed

You can feed all the time:
Dispatch and other general use PD Tac's even in SWAT is on them for an incident because they are general use channels. Not reserved for SWAT only.

Here is another way to say this:
Your dispatch, general use Tac and special events channels and talkgroups are OK regardless of what the PD transmits over it.

Again:

Read here:Feed Provider Terms of Service - What can and cannot be broadcast.

Which, as the TOS and every thread about it since have indicated, would be okay.

I was interpreting the second item in the checklist to mean a ban on talkgroups listed as "TAC 1", "A TAC", "B TAC", as well. I understand now that is not necessarily the case.

That is correct.

In our county there are four main channels. Public Safety dispatch..Public Safety car to car, and same for Fire. There are no talkgroups or anything dedicated. It is all analog as of today. They are going to go to a new digital Viper system eventually that will muddy the waters somewhat, but for now I can not control what they use their general channels for. When they assign talk groups I can weed out the ones that don't comply, but for now..we have these main channels. Several surrounding towns have VHF analog feeds for their general use repeaters and I include them. In this rural part of NC everyone owns a scanner. If they did ratings like they do with TV and Radio stations..the Macon County Sherrif would be number 1..even. Beating American Idol :)

Here are examples of what we do not allow as these are specific:
506.77500 SWAT - Talkaround
484.58750 Metro 2 (SWAT)
506.36250 Scientific Investigation Division

Wouldn't SID be the Evidence Techs who would be on scene doing mundane stuff long after there was any threat to officers?

Maybe if you would put a clarification in there about channels that are labeled TAC but are used for routine car to car traffic, and not dedicated to a division, are ok. Thats at least how I understand the discussion? I know it is pretty clear to begin with if you take a second to read it though.

Well that's where we hope people use some common sense and quit trying to nitpick everything.

No. Dude. A terms of service is supposed to be something that will hold up in court. It should be written the way you intend it to be interpreted with as little room for guess work as possible.

The people in this thread aren't trying to nitpick. Your terms are unclear and it isn't nitpicking to ask you to clarify them. Especially in a document which you are asking everyone to agree to and be bound by.

I'm perfectly fine with whatever rules you want to setup. If there were something in there I couldn't agree to I would take my business elsewhere. But your rules should be clear so people aren't getting slapped later because you were intentionally or unintentionally vague. That isn't fair to those who, at the end of the day, are providing YOU a service (not the other way around).

yo fool

Your only reading what you want to read! the question was asked what makes the difference if it is a full time frequency just for look ups then if the look ups were on a normal channel? A look up is a look up a NCIC is a NCIC no manner what frequency you listen to it on, crimminal history is crimminal history.

This has got to be the millionth thread about this nonsense. The damn TOS says dedicated.....what do you people not understand about this?

If fact I think you understand it perfectly, but are just looking to find a reason to start an argument.

If this hobby is so uninteresting to you, that you need to start BS discussions over something that any half wit can and does understand.....then FIND A NEW ONE!!!!

No one on the team

reading up on the RR team not one of the team members have any emergency background other then bob as a weather spotter . No wonder we are getting told what to stream . Wonder if this is the same team that ran Live Police, Fire, EMS, Aircraft, and Rail Scanners on RadioReference.com ? Gordon is the only smart one of the team whish he would go back to his old site less bull **** when he had it.

Why are there so many threads/posts about the new live audio feed T.O.S.?
Because people read what they are thinking and not what they are reading.

If you disagree with the T.O.S. for any reason, then just don't provide a feed. It seems quite simple to me.
I totally agree.

If it were up to me I would ban all law enforcment feeds and require a 1hr delay on everything else.
I feel that all LE feeds should have a 15 minute delay, but I also know that is a mixed bag. It largely fits into the same discussion as encryption. It's one thing to use a scanner, but entirely different when ANYONE can get the signals on their (smart)phone.

Probably technically difficult (maybe impossible), but one way to prevent bad guys from listening and to delay press interference might be to use some sort of Geo-Location process to block or delay broadcast to any cell phone or mobile device within 100 miles of the event.

Home users with a fixed location wouldn't be affected, nor would distant listeners.

Anyone in the Tampa/St. Pete area with a mobile device would have been blocked or delayed, but someone in Denver would have been hearing it more close to live.
