What antenna would I need for an ICOM R75 Receiver?

I guess I shouldn't be talking about an R75 on a R7100 forum huh? Sorry!

Before you spend $539.99 just one question. do you ever plan on getting a ticket to talk on amateur radio?

I have considered it. I've got a couple of local friends that have been trying to talk me into it. Why? I don't need a ticket for a receiver do I? Where did you get the $539.99 figure?

539.99 is because another member gave you an ebay link to a receiver. my question is why spend that amount of money on a receiver when you can buy a decent hf rig and talk when you get your ticket. and no you don't need a ticket to listen.

Thanks for the advice. I guess I'll have 2 receivers then if and when I decide to get my ticket. I just bought an R75 that was only $460.

This isn't the Icom IC-R7100 forum, this is the Icom Receivers forum so the IC-R75 is certainly included in the scope of this forum. However, if you are going to talk about the R75, you should start a new thread so that this thread doesn't get side-tracked with non-R7100 conversation.

If you are going to talk about other receivers in general, the HF/MW/LW Equipment forum would be more appropriate. If you are going to talk about ham radio transceivers in general, the Amateur Radio Equipment forum would be more appropriate.

Enjoy Shortride........radio's are a lot of fun, I've been messing with them since childhood, I'm now 68..
Have fun.

Thanks for the kind words.

I have always been fascinated with radios in general. I can remember when I got my first crystal radio that I could attach the single wire lead clip to a water pipe and get decent reception. I was always at awe that there were no batteries for power.
