To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

I’m looking to know which adapter is compatible to fit into the antenna socket of the TID H8 2nd gen handheld.

I don’t have much clarity on whether it’s standard or not and the manufacturer wasn’t helpful when I asked them.

Does anyone have experience connecting it to a Yagi antenna? I just want to know which adapter works on the connector.

I recently just got my license and I’m still a newbie. Any assistance would be great.

Based solely on a photo of the H8 antenna, it appears as if the antenna uses a female SMA connector. You should be able to confirm this by removing the antenna on your radio. If the antenna connector is a female, you should be seeing a recessed pinhole inside the threaded barrel. In addition, the corresponding connector on the radio itself should have a slender pin in the center of the connector.
If you can confirm the above information, then an SMA female to BNC female adapter should work. (If the yagi uses a different type of connector, just substitute the "BNC female" with whichever type of connector is required for the yagi or whichever antenna you intend to use.)

2. This is the female Antenna plug IMG_7084.jpg

Yep... That's an SMA male connector on the radio and an SMA female connector on the antenna. There are several different types of connector adapters. What type of connector is on your coax associated with your yagi antenna?
