• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

We purchased few additional radios and the radios we got are all working fine and cloned perfect. The only issue have is after program noticed the knob selector didnt do anything except beep when tun it. I was able to program all other keys to my specs except had keep B - C buttons for up/Down switches. Normally we use C for Inversion on/off.

I must be having a memory loss monet because for life of me cant find the pull down menu for knob selector. Honestly if was only one using radios wouldnt care but when have others than only know how certain buttons operate it makes life difficult. haha. Suggestions help appreciated.

Is your model set to TK-3173[UHF]:K ? (Model > Product Information)
The selector options are disabled in M, E, & X market codes

Are the radios E series or just the software? If it's the radios, flashing with K series firmware might work--ask Kenwood or a dealer. If software, obviously you need a different version (my KPG-101D only has the K series).

A couple of work arounds would be to program 1 channel per zone and use the selector knob or program the B button to change the channel (up or down) and it should cycle after the last channel. You could still use C for inversion.

I got ahold of my local rep and he talked me threw it and yes it was a version issue.. too many KPG101 versions and if don't keep up with things it gets confusing.

Took a break from programing once we switched everything to Narrowband and haven't really had to reprogram anything in awhile.

Appreciate the tips, the only thing notice is once in awhile the radio beeps. Its not being touched just sitting in cup holder. check and no indicator lights are on. sounds like battery low beep but everything is good.

thanks
