Toronto EMS database updates

Just want you to be aware of a major overhaul of the Toronto EMS conventional frequencies and talkgroups on the Toronto Public Safety trunked system.

You will probably want to update your software/records accordingly.

What happened, did TEMS bought new radios? So the Back-up freqs in the 148-152MHz are no longer used?

No , only the conventional channels that I updated on the TEMS conventional page are in the radios.

One thing, if anyone updated prior to this post, please add B8 (26736 - Special Ops) I inadvertently left it out.

Their radios are 800MHz, so no VHF.

They DO have VHF MCS2000s in the trucks which still have the old VHF system...our ambulance has them programmed in still and the repeaters are still active.

However, you won't hear anything on them. I suspect they're for the upcoming 2012 zombie apocalypse.

Ok. What are the Standby T/Gs, the one where the units gets their call (info) on? What are the Alert T/Gs : Paging?

I'll break down what they all do:

A1 through A4 are the same as the quadrant channels. These are what the medics would switch to when assigned a call. Quadrants will eventually be eliminated and will result in 5 districts - 1 through 4 being the quadrants, and 5 as Special Operations (CCTU, Tac Medics, CBRN, etc...).

A5 (Supervisor) is where supervisors hang out when not on a standby channel. You'll also find the Support Trucks here.

A6 is for non-emergency ambulances (IE transfer units) (Patient Care Transport Unit)

A7, A8 and C7 are in theory where ambulances would "park" while waiting for a call.

Medcon 1 and 2 are for patching to Sunnybrook Base Hospital for orders.

B1 through B4 are channels the crew would switch to when on scene. Would be used for updates and destinations.

B5 is a Toronto Fire liason channel (you'll hear more about this in the coming year...)

B6 and B7 are for TTC subway stuff.

B8 is for Special Ops like CBRN, Tac Medics (they hang out here now).

B9 is for when a crew stages (IE, awaiting police to attend... used to be called Tac 1)

B10 through B15 are for special events like the CNE, Pride, Caribanna)

B16 is for liason with Peel (IE, airport, mostly)

C1 through C6 are for clearing (IE, what a crew switches to when arrived hospital).

"BU" channels are for when the trunk system takes a dump, or when they need to use conventional. These would have seen lots of use during the 2003 blackout if the system was around then.

Simplex channels are just that.

JES channels are common to Police, Fire and EMS (ie "Joint Emergency Services").

Mike. When can I make the changes to my Home Patrol, how often does the Sentinel program get changed?

I was wondering the same thing myself, Eric. On average, I would say they update every three days. We here at RadioReference don't have any "inside info" about Sentinel updates.

First thing I did this morning was to update the HPDB on my Home Patrol and it updated to Dec 7th, which was two days after the last version.
And it being the 13th today, we've gone six days without an update.

I'm going to check again when I get home from work.
I'd love to see the proper descriptions with yesterday's EMS update.

I updated my scanners last night, while I was working on the Durham Region stuff. I started updating your changes about 11 pm last night and the next time I looked at the clock, it was 5:30 am..

But since everyone was out working last night due to the rain/snow and the freezing, I was able to verify some new Works Department freqs and updated the Durham Region System.

Generally Uniden does a data pull in Sunday night and the update is available by noon on Monday.

I've got 12/12/2010 as my database.

Don't worry. I was multitasking, so it wasn't just the EMS updates that I was working on.
