Now I have hopefully two more questions to ask which should give me all the info and help that I will need for my trip to Toronto.

I am just wondering on my PRO 96 for the: Toronto Public Safety System, Peel Region System & York Region System. They use: Motorola Type II SmartZone. So when I enter the 800 MhZ freq's like the Main Control Channel(s) for this system, do I just enter the Main Control Channel(s) into my PRO 96 and just set the MODE to MOT (for Motorola) and that is it and it will automatically show and tell me the Voice Channels that are being used for that site, just like for Fleetnet or do I have to enter everything in, like the Main Control Channel(s) and all of the Voice Channels. I am just wondering this, so I will know how to set it up when I do it using WIN 96 here on the computer. So I will have it all ready to go when the time comes for me to leave to Toronto.

Also just wondering how I would set up this system on my BC796D and if I would set this to Contol Channel Only or what. Let me know.

I will be waiting for any replies to these 2 QUESTIONS I just asked in this post. Thanks again for all ur help. I really appreciate it.

Ok. I will just add the Control Channel only for both of my Scanners (PRO 96 and BC796D).

Because I thought I heard before or someone told me before that the PRO 96 can only do Control Channels for Fleetnet. And for any other system like the 800 MHz system, you have to enter everything in like the Control Channel(s) and all of the Voice Channels for that 800 MHz system. So let me know I just want to make sure here, so I won't just enter in the Control Channels and find out after that you need to enter in all of the Voice Channels to for this system. Let me know.

And so the same would go for my BC796D. I am just confirming here that all you need to enter in is just the Main Control Channel(s) for that System and not any of the Voice Channels.

Because then if that is the case with the PRO 96 and BC796D, that I just enter in the Main Control Channel(s) only. Then this will save some or alot of space in both radio's so I can enter in other stuff to that I want to listen to. So let me know.

I will be waiting for any replies to all the QUESTIONS I just asked in this post. Thanks again.

With the Pro-96 on an 800mhz system, just enter the control channel and off you go. The same is true for any VHF or UHF trunking system *provided* you have entered the correct base/offset/step data.

Ok. Thanks for the info Forts.

Then since you mentioned about the base/offset/step data for the 800 MHz freq's. Does the Toronto Public Safety System, Peel Region System, Durham Region System & York Region System use anything like that and if they do what would they be. But if they don't then all I do is just enter the Main Control Channel(s) into my PRO 96, set it to MOT and that is it. The same goes for the BC796D, just change it to MOT Type 2 800 MHz. Then after just enter the Main Control Channel(s) and away I go. Let me know.

And what about the 400 MHz freq's for the: RCMP & Gov't of ONT GO Transit System. Do they use base/offset/step data or no. If they do let me know. Otherwise I just do the same with these ones as well, just enter the Main Control Channel into my PRO 96, set the MODE to MOT and away I go. Let me know.

And for the BC796D. I would just do the same set it to MOT Type 2, then just enter in the Main Control Channel and away I go or what. Let me know.

I will be waiting for any replies to these 3 Questions I just asked in this post. Once again thanks.

I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure the base and offset needed for Go Transit can only be entered by Win96.... You can't do it thru the keypad as it's an oddball number. I'll hafta check my notes or look back in ScanOnt.

And unless you are a commuter & understand what shopping at Sherway Means you probably wont enjoy monitoring the system.

Coolguy. Just follow the specs in the data base and figure it out for yourself.
All the systems are easy to follow & easy to program. And again someone on here will offer to give you files or you can use some from the Yahoo group.

I have another question I need a little help with.

For all the systems like: Peel Region, Durham Region, Halton Region, York Region, Toronto Public Safety. They all use the Motorola Type 2 800 MHz System.
So on my BC796D. When I choose this System and then choose Control Channel Only. After that it tells me I need to select a BAND PLAN like: PLAN 1, PLAN 2, PLAN 3 & PLAN 4. So when it comes to these BAND PLANS, where I have to pick ONE PLAN for each of the systems I mentioned above. I don't know which plan to choose for each system. So if anyone on here can help me out again and let me know which PLAN to use for each of the systems I mentioned above for my BC796D I would appreciate it. Because I looked at the PLANS and I cannot tell which one to use for these systems. So let me know.

So I will be waiting for any replies to this QUESTION I just asked in this post. Thanks again for all your help.

Coolguy, you need to take a look at the database.
Halton Region is not a Motorola system.
It is a EDACS system with three separate towers.
You will probably not be able to monitor it from Toronto and if you do in order to here all of Halton you will have to set up 3 separate banks.

IIRC correctly it is plan 1. From my experiences with a 296 I think the manual explains it quite well which plan to use.
Again why dont you dont take files from the Yahoo group and save yourself the aggrevation.

I believe the band plan has to be entered via win-96.
Go transit does have some interesting stuff like traffic updates, which lanes are moving faster (reports from drivers)

But its certainly not as interesting as say police fire or ambulance...
So if you cant get it to go then dont worry about it

Ok I got all that. Thanks for all your help again. I really appreciated it.

So that should be all the questions and answers I will need for now hopefully. But if I happen to think of anything else that I need answered before the time comes for me to leave to Toronto. I will ask it.
Otherwise thanks again everyone.

Coolguy.
