The "economy" baby monitors use the 43-50MHz cordless phone band...walk around a neighborhood with a scanner scanning that limit will probably get you more baby monitors than phones these days. I was house-sitting last week in a suburban neighborhood and had to go out on the porch to light up--just for the hell of it, I fired up the Pro-94 and did a search--I didn't have to step off the porch to pick up three baby monitors and a ringing phone, and that was just searching 43-50...

I might add that there are apparently "deluxe" baby monitors that use 900Mhz frequencies, too.

Well some would say listening to how often their neighbors fight is even more fun!

Damn skippy it is! Especially when they are on the phone with 911 while the argument is ensuing. In my complex is a little ghetto-ish family that not only owns an old cordless but a baby monitor as well. Well long story short, one night I hear them yelling at each other from across the courtyard so I tune in to see what they are up to (yes I am a nosy S.O.B.) and she is on the phone with 911, the baby monitor is on and the cops get dispatched. 3 scanners going and I had a virtual front row seat. Dude got drunk and started smacking the girlfriend around and then tried to take on 3 cops with a dining room chair. It was like listening to a COPS episode. I watched them cart him off. Great fun.
