• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

Got the dongle and downloaded the software showing the frequency screen but it’s not working. Is there a video that shows how to easily set this up?

I'm running the Noo Smart SDR with HDSDR software...besides the Zidig USB driver for your computer you need a generic SDR DLL file
that you can select when you start your software if not it defaults to the Soundcard.

Hope this helps

Yes this is exactly what I have. I can’t figure it out. I’m to the point where I’d pay for software.
Ok
So you have the software installed
And you have the usb driver installed
You have down loaded the generic SDR DLL
File and put it in the the HDSDR directory
If you plug in the SDR into a USB port does it get detected?
Start the software does it ask for the dll or does it default to the sound card? If you talk at the pc mic does it show up on the screen as audio?
Go down the selections on the mid left side and select the input there you can select the SDR DLL file.
The whole thing should fire up at that point and your ready to go.

Let us know how far can you go before you stuck?

RTLSDR (DVB-T/DAB with RTL2832) USB Is the file you need for the Noo SDR
[/QUOTE]
Ok I downloaded this and put into the hdsdr directory. A window pops up “Rtl devices was found but could not open. Used by another application or Zadig not installed?”
When I then click on the extIO button it says “ExtIO DLL not active”.

When you select the DLL in the input do you compete the path?
Basically HDSDR is looking for the file even if its in its own directory ...You must link it or show it the path to activate.
Also you can only run 1 Program at a time. Make sure you dont have 2 HDSDR's running...

Shown below are multiple copies of the same file just so if one gets corrupt...

if you select from the options ( INPUT) and select EXTIO you should get this prompt !

It works!

Tried to transmit and I seem to be putting out signals all over the spectrum according to the SDR. Is that possible?

Turn your gain down on the SDR your too close also you don’t need an antenna on the SDR being that close either.
Also transmitting into a dummy load would be better for testing purposes.
