On windows 10, the installation process for the drivers was rather straight forward for me. Please note that I used ProScan to program my BCD996P2 coupled along with RR Premium access (this reaalllly expedited the programming process).
Here's what I did on mine initially...
- Plugged in the USB from the 996P2 to the computer.
- Let windows 10 have a fit about the missing drivers.
- Right clicked on the start windows logo button.
- Selected 'device manager'.
- Expanded the "ports (com & lpt)" bit.
- Right clicked the Communications port for the 996P2.
- selected 'update driver software...'
- Selected 'browse my computer...'
- Browsed to where i downloaded and extracted the 'uniden_usbser' folder.
- Pressed OK.
- Pressed next.
- Let windows do its thing. Reboot if needed.
Once that is all set and done, I went into the driver properties for the (now named) Uniden Serial Port. Clicked the port settings tab, and set these settings...
(Note: Only changed the bps to the highest value, nothing else)
Once I got all of that fun fluffy stuff out of the way, spun up ProScanner for the first time and made a new DB.
After i made a new DB, i set the scanner type to the P2 model (at the bottom of the list),
Then set the comm port bit to the assigned port. For me, the comm port is either COM3 or COM5 - it varies.
Once that was setup, I went to Database->Import->RadioReference. Logged in with my credentials, and added the systems that i needed.
Hopefully this assists with your issue.
