I am new to scanning and I purchased a BC125AT. I know that this isn't capable of scanning trunked systems. I live in Allen County, OH, and it saysthe public safety(police, fire, etc.) has moved to a trunked/p25 system, but it still has frequencies listed for the analogue system. Can I still listen to the analogue frequencies, or are they dormant and need to be removed from the database? Thanks in advance. Allen County, OH

Welcome to the world of scanning!
As for your question... I'm not from your area but many times the VHF/UHF frequencies well continue to be active. They may be simulcasting with the MARCS system. If you have not already tried, I would program your BC125 and see what you get. BTW- the AIR frequencies will work and the BC125 is a great radio for aircraft monitoring. Enjoy!

Until someone monitors and determines what's no longer used and makes a submission, the data will remain in the database.

Best thing to do is program what may be of interest to you and have a listen. You will either hear it or you wont.

The whole reason I bought it is because I'm going to an airshow in about a week. I can also listen to Chicago and Cleveland Centers from my house with the default antenna on it.

The BC125 is an excellent radio for aviation (also railroads). I’ve used it for a couple of airshows, worked great.

Until someone else from your county weighs in, best you can do is tune in and find out for yourself. Even if not in (regular) use, if the licenses are kept active, said analogs could potentially be used as fallback in the event site(s) on the TRS fail. I've also seen old PD analog frequencies repurposed for Public Works & the like

Just a cursorily glance it appears the police channels may be existing old channels which could be used in a failure situation.

I would try to seek out others in your area to confirm but it appears most ops are on MARCS.

You can take notice when you see local police cars as to the antennas on vehicle or how many radios in center console.

As an admin I would be hesitant to work a deletion from a user like yourself with less than 10 posts. Not saying that you would be lying however would prefer credible source.
