Would the program show a talk group and a radio id on an encrypted system?

It depends on the type of encryption chosen by the radio system's administrator. The control channel could be entirely in the clear while the IMBE voice traffic for select talkgroups is encrypted. Alternately, some control channel messages might be encrypted (along with associated voice traffic) while others are in the clear. In the latter case ... the program won't be able to decode these messages.

WHAT IS THE NAME OF THIS PROGRAM?

Uni-Trunker. There will also be a new version of T4Win to follow a short time afterwards.

Thanks rfmobile for your responses. :) This is quit an amazing project. what impresses me the most is that you would only need a sound input to a sound card. And it's 3600 baud capable. . . .

Look at it this way: A MODEM is just a specialized sound card, and it goes up to 56000 BPS.

So what is so amazing about a generic sound card being programmed for 3600 or even 9600 BPS?

I am not saying it is easy!!! (I don't program well, and have much respect for those that do!) :)

I just hope it will import or use my current grp.txt files for the systems I have loaded. Have all my groups with text tags and I sure hate to have to type all that in again. Pleaseeeee!!

Well I now that. But what I don't understand is why do some programs have to use a data slicer? I think some programs work better that way. It depends on the data I guss? It just amazes me that a digital sound can be reinperted into the exact wave forms. I hope thats right. I do have some programs which just use a sound card. It can be tricky however to adjust them for optimum performance. Wheres I think a data slicer would not need alot of tweaking.

A "data slicer" is just a simple AtoD circuit. (Analog to digital copnverter).
The output can then be fed into a digital port like serial port.

The sound card is doing the same task, just in a software driven rather then hardward driven mannor.

You need the sould card rather then the data slicer to decode more complicated forms of modulation like p25 (C4FM/CPQSK).

It's partly the signal, and partly economics ... cheap hardware. Most of the slicer-based software works with 2 level signals on old 486 hardware - often running on DOS. Not every computer of that vintage had a sound card but nearly all had one, if not two serial ports.

Alright cool I learn all the time from this site. :) I never much thought that a data slicer was an analog to digital converter. That makes sense. Thanks rfmobile and n_jay. Yes understanding that a older computer never would have a sound card makes sense to use a data slicer.
