In my area there are 2 agencies using the same talkgroup, is there way to only receive one of them ? maybe by separating them by radio ID or something . anyone have any ideas?

Thanks

No way to do that. The only thing you can do is use RID's in use for the communities on the same TalkGroup. Using one TG for multiple communiites is becoming the norm for Dispatch Centers. Makes the job much easier for dispatchers to only have to use one TG versus many.

Sometimes a system manager have copied an old analog system directly to a new digital system by substituting an analog channel for a time slot and the CTCSS subtone for a TG. If they use different time slots you could seperate them in the TRX programming. But only if it is a conventional channel and not trunked. Do the users in one agency hear the other agency that use the same TG?

If they are both using the same frequency & color code, but separate slots, you could separate them. Program each entry the same, except specify the correct Slot for each agency ordepartment. I've seen several instances of those mentioned in the forums. When programming a conventional frequency in your TRX 2, you can specify the talkgroup, color code, as well as a designated slot.

Using the Whistler TRX Base Mobile Digital Scanner Program. Go to the Conventional Frequencies tab next to the scan list and under the Mode you have 6 choice selections AM, FM, NFM, AUTO, DMR and NXDN. Then after you select one of six you go to the Squelch selection. Under the Squelch you have your tone options based on what you selected in the Mode. FM and NFM you have PL and DPL. Under DMR you have Color code, Time Slot and Talkgroup ID. Under NXDN you have NXDN RAN and Talkgroup ID. Trunked radio are are different. and the best wa is to import them from Radio Reference data base updated every Sunday using the Library Import tab select Tab Type and go from that.

If this is a solution , i did not follow or understand how to separate the 2 agencies . It is a stand alone repeater on P25 Phase1 and both agencies are using the same NAC 293.

In a Uniden scanner, it would be a One Frequency Trunked system. You would be able to specify a NAC on one of the SDS scanners, but not on other Uniden scanners,

But for the TRX-2, just make it a normal P25 trunked system, but the site will only have one frequency.

You can then enter the two talkgroups into that "system". However, there is no way to specify a NAC for the site. That might not matter, if no one else in the area is using the same frequency, other than the two you want. That's presuming you know their talkgroups, If not, when you create the system, add a wildcard, set to record. After a long enough period of time, to catch recordings from both agencies. review the audio clips in EZ-Scan, which will display the talkgroup(s) it recorded. Then enter the individual TGIDs for your two agencies.

If they are both using the same frequency, talkgroup, and NAC, then there is no setting in any scanner that can separate their transmissions. And they would be talking over each other (on their own radios) as well.
