TRX1 and TRX2 question

I just purchased both a TRX1 and 2, they are programmed the same. However, I do not receive any P25 or trunked radio signals on the TRX1 just conventional. I programmed the TRX2 via the whistler software and downloaded the data from the internet. Works great. I did the same with the TRX1 do I have a bad radio?

Check in EZ-Scan what scanlists the talkgroups in the trunked systems are assigned to and check that those scanlists are enabled and actually scanned. Active scanlists comes up on the display when you scan.

Couple of things I would check;
Verify the CPU firmware is current (5.8)
Verify the DSP firmware is current (3.2)
Verify the TRX-1 PC application is current (3.34)
Make sure the talkgroups are assigned to a scanlist that's enabled and in the scanset.
Create a V-folder of the cloesest P-25 system load it up and turn off the squelch

Did you program them separately? If so, try doing an archive in EZ Scan for the TRX-2 (Look under file tab in top left) and then in EZ Scan for the TRX-1 load that archive using restore from ARCHIVE. See if that helps.

This expands on what N1GAW just posted. There are separate TRX-1 and TRX-2 apps. You know that the TRX-2 works OK. To ensure that both scanners have the same programming, use the following procedure: Connect your TRX-2 to the computer. Using the TRX-2 app, click on Scanner/SD Card tab and Copy Configuration from Scanner Memory/SD Card. If it asks to continue, click Yes. Click on File tab and Save Current Configuration to Archive. Give the file a name, other than the CDAT number, and save. Connect your TRX-1. Using the TRX-1 app, click on File tab and Restore Configuration from Archive. Click on the file you just saved and Open. When it asks Continue with Restore?, click Yes. Click on the Scanner/SD Card tab and Copy Configuration to Scanner Memory/SD card. You now have the same exact programming in both scanners. What do you want to monitor? Include system, county, city, and state.

I am trying to monitor NJICS and Summit P25 both do not work, Millburn EMS conventional frequency works

I see the P25 conventional frequencies for Summit. I see a fire tac talkgroup on the NJICS system. I can create a file that you give you everything on the NJICS system in Union Co, including the conventional frequencies. Can you attach your configuration file and post it so that I can take a look at it for any problems.

Ok this advise worked except I think I missed something in the NJICS programming as I hear nothing on both radios. So when programming NJICS you select a site then the agency then the talkgroups which is what I did (union county site 1-007 and I hear nothing. Can I select multiple sites?

The Union Co site uses 700 MHz frequencies. On the TRX-1 and TRX-2 apps, go to the Trunked Radio Systems tab and under Site Options, set the Trunking Tables for the Union Co site to Auto Fill. If there are any other sites, delete them. The system Type should be Project 25. You should be able to receive the Union Co site on the NJICS system at your location. That is a simulcast site for the county. You may be having problems with the simulcast, which a lot of scanners do. What conventional frequency do you hear Millburn EMS on. I don't see it in the database. If you would like, I will create a file which has everything on the NJICS system for Union Co plus the conventional frequencies for Summit and anything else you want.

Yeah select any site near you, I have one scan list with all my states sites and three with just my local sites (one per bank)

Ok I deleted all sites except union county, it was already set to P25 and auto. I have been hearing Millburn and new providence on 500.73750 perfectly.

If NJICS is still not working, please post your configuration file so that I can check for any problems. 500.7375 is the Fire/EMS Dispatch and Ops frequency for New Providence.

Interesting! I've been monitoring for over 40 years and don't think I've ever seen a frequency of 500.xxxx used for fire or anything.

The UHF T-Band frequencies (470-512 MHz) are used by numerous public safety agencies. They may be disappearing due to the government takeback so that the spectrum can be sold.

After I posted I did remember many years ago in another state frequencies used that I had never seen in Colorado.

Delaware County, PA still uses 500mhz T-band conventional channels for law enforcement & fire. Their system is quite antiquated and is due for replacement
