software udpdate didnt work looked at mars mod
of the 4 diodes my radio only has 2 if we call the mars mod diode No 4 my radio is missing diode 1 and 4 any ideas

Ok so wait, it was working correctly and now you said it's missing diodes? Diodes do not remove themselves.

your post may have helped tested the radio and i think somehow it has changed to a 144 to 146 now i need to find out how to change it back to a 144 to 148 radio

This didn't happen by itself it seems. Radios do not mystically come up missing diodes. Somehow we don't seem to have the complete story here or I'm confused I guess.

Honestly, I think those are resistors and upon checking there should be three of them it looks like. At any rate here's the deal. It either was working or it wasn't working and parts don't remove themselves from radios. II don't actually know what each resistor will cause if removed, I never tried it. If have time this week I'll pull the one I have here the apart and see what's inside there I guess. I don't actually run my 350 here these days, but my son is still running one at his house but I think his had been already tampered with when we bought it at a ham fest some years ago, I don't remember.

Could it be possible that somebody was inside that radio, before you got it ?

it is very possible for surface mount items to dissapear i have a downeast transverter that is nothing but a toolbox as your always inside it with tools replacing components that fall of the board
if someone can tell me the value of the missing resistor i wqill put it on the board and see if that cures my problem

no i purchased brand new and i have not been inside until i did software update

thank you for your help all through this drama i finally fixed the problem the resistor that on web sites says it does mars mod
on my radio restricts transmission above 145.995 so i bridged the pads now transmits 146 YEEEE HAAAA thanks again dave vk2cq
