Trying to make a list of TX REGIONAL Public Safety Trunking systems, P25, 700/800 or 800 Mhz.

I have GATRRS, TXWARN, HOTRRS, LCRA, LRGVRRS, SETRRS, NCTCOG, and Permian Basin.

What ones are I missing?

And what exactly are the ones in the database that say Motorola? Type I, II, IIi? P25? Astro 3600? DMR? Anyone know?

Keep in mind, GATRRS and Permian Basin are both multi-band systems and majority of their coverage actually comes from VHF sites. Also, Permian Basin is in the process of being merged into GATRRS.

CVCOG is another VHF system (though every site is currently in Site Trunking as I understand it). I mention it as rumor is that it may also merge into GATRRS with Permian Basin.

STRAC is 800 MHz...but also being merged into GATRRS.

Fort Worth is technically a regional system...but I guess what are we really defining as regional?

There are also some ISD PD's running on SMR systems currently...which may or may not be represented on the database.

While HOTRRS has 'Regional' in it's name, it only, at least for now, covers only McLennan County.

While FWRRS is not a "large" system in comparison to TxWARN or GATRRS, I would still consider it to be regional. Sites and unit coverage extend over five counties: Tarrant, Johnson, Dallas, Ellis, and Denton Counties (the TMS site is in Denton County).

Dont forget the San Antonio / Bexar county regional radio system. It covers the entire Region inside Bexar County.

when is the PBRI system supposed to merge with the GATRRS? I live in Upton co and work in Ector co.....

It's on going. The routes have already been built for the networking and provisioning in the Zone 2 (DPS owned) core but it is my understanding is the main delay will be physically getting the sites upgraded from Quantars to GTRs as CoA is planning to move to a release that no longer supports the Quantar. It is also my understanding currently that Ector county will not be fully upgrading with the surrounding areas. Something about not having the funds to upgrade county owned infrastructure on the system (consoles and the 800 MHz site is what I've heard).

Just saying "motorola" is pretty generic.

Motorola references SmartNet and can be defined as either Type I or Type II. Bear in mind, a Type II system can also be an Astro trunking system (if it allows digital) and can either be P25 CAI or Astro CAI for voice but not many Astro CAI systems around anymore.

That is what I figured. Pretty generic, you have to check the system to see what it is. Thanks

Have you thought about making a map with all the regional systems? That might be helpful for people that travel often.
