I am not sure this is true. What is the 1st IF and 2nd IF of the 9800? If the manufacturer is hiding it, it's for a reason. Yaesu, a REAL radio vendor, proudly publishes their specifications on all their products,

My late mother always said, if one is hiding something, they must not be proud of it.
Apparently it is dual conversion if their spec page is truthful, but the radio is still a CCR.

Sigh. Does this help? It's in the manual.

Ypu've made your opinion abundantly clear. This topic was about a faulty one, and returning it to the supplier seems a sensible thing to do - but there is NO systematic problem with these radios. Like everything, do your research and buy what fits you best.
You seem totally unable to accept people not agreeing with your opinion - we don't have a problem with it, but quit trying to convince us they're the spawn of the devil. Theyre a nice, cost effective, multi-band radio that does an awful lot for the price. I know you'll never buy one. That's your choice, and I respect it - but ill informed comment and unpleasantness isn't going to convince anyone.
You hate TYT, you like Yaesu I get it. It is fine. I like both, but the Yaesu products require more investment.

There will be fanboys no matter what one is talking about. I see this is just as true with radios and it is with firearms.

It's real simple, buy what you like but don't bash others for buying something else.

PS; After my terrible experience with Yaesu's customer service, I will most likely never buy another one of their radios. They wanted to charge me $900 to fix the USB port on my FTDX10 and the radio is still under warranty. They wanted to charge me since I can't find the original purchase receipt. There is no way I will pay $900 to repair a $1400 radio.

If someone gave me a Baoturd, Wouxun, or other similar garbage radio on a chip, I’d use it as a target at the gun range. That’s all they’re good for.
I don't have quite that drastic an opinion of Baofeng, and I know a lot of people consider them excellent radios for a new ham, but they are not something I'd recommend to a new person nor would I buy one for myself. I did have a UV-5R I won as a door prize that ultimately got given away. I have two Wouxun Part 90 radios that gave me excellent service when I was a volunteer Brakeman at a local railroad museum. We operated on AAR channels in the LMR. I don't use them now, but keep them on hand just in case.

I can't speak for the Wouxun KG-UV920P or KG-UV980P but the KG-1000G GMRS radio is definitely super-heterodyne.

They're trash, I've had one on my bench. On a service monitor that costs more than most club's ham shacks, and they are abysmal at front end out of band rejection, adjacent channel selectivity, and frequency error. Pieces of turd but hams are by nature cheap, which is why JVC Kenwood gave up and moved on selling quality LMR equipment to customers with money versus crybaby hams wanting steak and ale for the price of pizza and beer.

Hard to return something to a service center that doesn't exist outside of a PO box or someone's basement. This is where the rubber meets the road. Real radio vendors have factory service centers: Icom, Yaesu, Kenwood, even Alinco have USA service center and sell parts to anyone.
Let me know how reaching out to one of these road apple radio peddlers are when it comes to service parts, service manuals, and service in general.

I'm not sure that arguing about the relative merits of TYTs vs. Yaesus provides the OP with an answer to his question. And, besides, the OP hasn't been here for about 10 days. Thread locked.
