The RF tech was dumping a crate of old radios, when I saw a u400 still in its unopened plastic wrapper. I grabbed it along with the mike, still in its plastic condom. I know its old stuff [20-25 yrs] but it could be good for something. What I now need is the programing key board [ ex-494 ]. E-bay had no hits for this item, so I'm out unless anyone here can help.

The other option is to get/find a U16 [Portable] and Clone it that way too.

Well it turns out that when I mentioned the ex-494 to the guys in the shop, one of them remembered seeing one in another box waiting to be heaved out. I found it and copied the ops manuals off a web site. If all goes well - happy ending!
