I recently purchased a new UBC75XLT and I have been trying to set the step to 8.33 khz. It is not an option, but the manual and everything I have found says that it has 5.0/6.25/8.33/10.0/12.5/20.0 kHz and Default selectable options. Do I need to update the unit firmware? If so, how? I have plenty of radio experience as an avionics tech in the Navy on SH/MH-60B/R until 2012 and am working in the civilian/military field currently. I thought I knew my way around comms. Am I missing something? The manual looks pretty straight forward, all of the steps are there aside from 8.33khz. Feel free to ridicule and mock me, as long as you provide good info, as I feel pretty foolish now.

25, 33, 50, 66, 75 One of these numbers displays to indicate the frequency step. For example, “25” indicates 0.25kHz.
108.00000-136.99166 8.33 AM Aircraft Band
it should be 8.33 by default.

can be downloaded from this one,

Thank you to all. I figured it out, I needed to be in svc air and select it from there. Probably should have guessed, but it seems odd that its not available in simple search or scan. There is a default option that is probably it, but the manual says 8.33 is an option along with default. Anyway, thank you.

The manual says to press func + stp/3 and scroll/select with the knob. Selecting specific step lets it search only in that step. This is much different than a military aircraft. I got cocky and thought I could just go at it.

In post #4 WTP states just like the manual does of my 396XT which has the original firmware that "Service Search" /"AIR" 108-136 is AM , but my 396XT searches in "NFM" and I go to Band Defaults and it shows 108.0:AM/ 8.3 but it's "NFM,...I can't seem to find how to change it , must need a firmware upgrade ,....

from the easy to read manual
Band Defaults basically, this setting allows you change the 'Auto' values you can select while programming frequencies, searches, etc. to whatever you feel 'Auto' should be for each band (vs. the radio defaults). Since all of the step and modulation settings default to 'Auto', this allows you to skip those settings when programming. Note: This setting has no effect on service searches.
Scroll to the band you wish to edit and press E/yes. Refer to Band Defaults chart to help find the bands in the menu.
At 'Set Modulation' scroll to AM, NFM, FM, WFM, or FMB (Broadcast) and press E/yes to save and exit.
At 'Set Step' scroll to Auto, 5, 6.25, 7.5, 8.33, 10, 12.5, 15, 20, 25, 50, or 100 kHz and press E/yes to save and exit.
Scroll to any other bands you wish to edit and repeat. Press Menu to return
