BCD436HP/BCD536HP: UBCD536PT on ProScan

I have a UBCD536-PT AU/NZ model.
I have been wanting to use ProScan on it.
Bob Aune has kindly added it to the ProScan list.
It can now be programed in mass storage mode but won't show up in serial port mode.
So can't be used remotely.
I have tried several other Uniden cables.
Also tried installing the windows 536 serial driver.

Any help or advice would be appreciated.

That's the underlying problem that has to be resolved.

I can confirm that the UBCD436PT works in Proscan. Using the top legacy plug with a USB to Serial cable allows serial mode. The cable is the same as the UBCD396T and UBCD396XT.

That's what I thought. Thanks for the update. I advised @rocky28965 via email to use the rear port along with a null modem adapter or cable if the front port isn't working.

Any modem USB to RS232 converter should work regardless of the chip. Just stay away from the older Prolific PL2303TA as that one is not compatible with Win 11.

One will be female and the other a male so choose the one that fits directly to the scanner, if that will be its only use.

They don't make the TX and RX with the wrong pinout. If it has a female 9-pin connector in will be a null modem type and if it is a male connector it will be the same connector as a computer will have and you can use that for all kinds of things that needs a hardware RS-232 port connected to your PC, but will then need a null modem cable or adapter to some devices like modems or scanners.

my sds 200 and sds100 work fine in proscan. just got the UBCD536PT and nothing but I think it is in the device manager on win 11 that is the issue.

If it's programming you want to do, then the scanner are seen as a standard USB memory device and doesn't need any specific drivers. It is when you use the serial mode that it needs specific drivers to be loaded in Windows and the scanners serial port should turn up in device manager, or whatever it is called in Win11, where you can see its port number that ProScan needs to be set to.
