UCA on Unication G5?

Trying to monitor UCA in Utah County on a G5.

No joy, every site I enter says “Out of Range”

I’m downloading with the PPS software using the Radio Reference direct download feature and nothing. Even tried a full spectrum scan.

Am I missing a step, or is there a trick to this system?

I’d suspect the 4 different sys-id’s for UCA sites might be an issue. Try the wildcard value of FFF for sys-id.

I use a G5 to scan the system and it works quite well. It does look for system IDs rather than just a control channel. A couple of neat things I found is that you can specify a frequency range to scan if the specific control channel is not found (still need the system ID though or wildcard). Also, it has a Talkgroup ID search mode, like Uniden, so it will monitor any traffic on the site. Unlike Uniden, however, you don't get channels names in this mode even if you have them programed in. I set my selector knob 8 position to be my ID search mode for my local site. Comes in handy.
