Last year while working at a county we had a probation officer bring one of their vans in and asked us to look at his radio that didnt work, it was an mcs2000 that wouldnt have worked for at least a year prior.

Yeah, sounds familiar.

Had one come in that was not only a well out of date MTS-2000, but someone had installed an MX base VHF antenna on it.
At one point we tried some EF Johnson 7780's, one of those turned up a year or so ago. After rebanding, we went to EFJ 5100's, and those were pretty nice, still have a few of those left.

When rebanding talks started some people got xts2500 radios on campus, limited numbers of people. the rest were just updated firmware and reprogramming thru the rest of the systems life.

There may have been an EFJ floating in my stuff programmed up as well for use. lol

Yeah, we had a bunch of XTS's also. All our Spectra's went and were replaced with XTL-2500's. I hung on to a few of those.
