Are you using a cable that carries data, and not just for power/charging?
Are you using the scanner in serial mode or mass storage mode when you get this message?

Are you seeing that message using a software program? Which one? Do you see that message when trying to program the scanner or when using virtual control?

I get that using Butel software all the time. It's frustrating. I just have to keep trying different ports (I have 3) and eventually it will detect. Have no idea why.

You need to make sure the scanner is in Mass Storage Mode (press E/yes key on scanner after connecting USB cable to scanner & computer) otherwise it will not be detected by Sentinel or other programming apps
