Unication G4/5 for Prince William County?

Looking to upgrade my 436HP and have my eye on one of the Unication pagers, specifically the G5 so I can monitor both PWC‘s P25 and a VSP STARS system. I’m aware I wouldn’t be able to monitor them both at the same time, or at least that’s my understanding of this pager.

Anyone here using one to monitor PWC? How’s it performing?

I monitor PWC with my G4 from the Fairfax City area all the time. Works great. No issues.

G5 monitoring pw from around rt 50. Comes in great. You can't use pager on MWAA and MONTGOMERY COUNTY. Works with dc, arlington, alex, fairfax, pw, loudoun, pg & frederick co md.
One juristiction at a time monitoring.
With fairfax you can add vsp 1 & 2 (div 7).
I have not figured out programming vsp itself in its own zone. Hear its tricky.

Great! Thanks for the info! Looks like I’ll be ordering one soon! Wish it had TG hold but I can get around that with some creative programming. As long as it picks up PWC better than this 436hp does, I’ll be happy.

If you have set up Fairfax County as a system just set up a separate VSP zone using the fairfax system and talkgroups.

One thing you can do is create a new zone for STARS. You have 8 knob positions. I used 1-7 for each VSP division. On the 8th, I put every VSP division.

My G5 arrived today! Uploaded the PPS file I've been working on and was up and running in no time. Wow, this thing is amazing! Can pickup PWC from my office in Reston (a very noisy RF environment) without issue, something my Uniden is unable to do. All from a little antenna smaller than my thumb, incredible. Audio quality is also outstanding! Very satisfied, wish I made the jump to Unication sooner!

Now off to ebay to list that BCD436HP!

That will be changing soon wrt Montgomery County.
