• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

I have 3 G4s that I bought early 2022. The serial numbers on two of them begin with G4FS. These shut completely down and turn on to the boot up screen if left off for more than a couple hours. These in the past could be off for weeks and would still have charged batteries when turned on. As of the past couple of weeks one of them will kill the battery within 5 days when turned off. I tried putting in a new battery and have swapped batteries with the other G4FS. Same results the battery is dead in 5 days. The other G4 serial number begins with G4DS and never shuts down completely. It starts right up when turned on. This one can be off for 5 days and lose less than 20% of the charge. All 3 off these were programmed in early 2022 with the same codeplug.

Any ideas?

Do they all have the same firmware on them? Honestly mine sit in the amplified charging base if not being carried so I have never really let one set out off to see hat happens. (the G5's). I do have a G4 I rarely use, perhaps I'll pull it and see what I can come up with, with it just sitting off the charger. The G5 batteries are right at a year old, but the G4 battery is older so maybe that will yield something. I think they all have version 2.02 firmware on them, but I"ll have to check the G4, I might not have updated that one.

Have you tried a hard reset?
Unication STRONGLY recommends customers perform a "Hard Reset" on any G2-G5 model pagers experiencing any of the issues below prior to shipping under warranty. In many cases this will resolve the issues without having to send device to the warranty center.
Follow the troubleshooting steps below exactly as outlined for G-Series P25 Voice Pagers reported as No RX, No Audio, No Alert, Stuck in off duty, Can’t Change Zones or devices reported as “no power/no response to charge” or with “not charging with flashing lights”. Over 70% of these issues are resolved through a simple Hard Restart of the device.

I’ll give it a try when I get the battery charged. I was at my son’s house for the last ten days. When I got home it was completely dead. Put it in the charger and it took about 15 minutes before it would start to charge.
