If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Hello,
I just recently got a Unication G4, I downloaded the PPS Software and updated the Firmware before programming.
I've downloaded the channels from the Wayne County Simulcast and the Detroit City Simulcast.
Well, after I completed the programming process.
I was listening to the channels on the scanner and the only channels I can listen to are Dpd01 - Dpd03 Detroit Dispatch channels.
Like I said I programmed all of the Deroit Law Enforcement channels as well as Waynr County.
Did I do something wrong or not it add something?
Because everytime I flip to any of the other channels it says scanning but I don't ever hear anything on them.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

How do you have your programming arranged? (Which sites? How do you have the TG grouped on lists? Etc...)

"Scanning" means the pager is attempting to lock on a control channel. Under normal circumstances, you wouldn't see that but for a couple of seconds or so. How are you loading the required information into PPS? Without a RR subscription you'd have to hand load the P25 Trunking System Settings (site info) for each site, and the Group ID Settings (talkgroup info) for every talkgroup manually.

I programmed them in manually, it took quite a while.
I've got over 200 channels programmed in.
I'm not sure what's going on, cause like I said I can hear Detroit Dispatch and that's it.

I programmed them in the PPS like this for instance to listen to the MSP Tri County Narcotics Divisons
SYSTEM ID 796. WACN 92493
Zone 1 MSP NARC
KNOB 1
DEC ---- HEX ----- ALPHA TAG
1075. 433. TRI CO NARC1
1076. 434. TRI CO NARC2
1077. 435. TRI CO NARC3
1078. 436. TRI CO NARC4

Thats how I set them up each group is in a different zone on a certain knob setting.
Idk what I'm doing wrong?

It sounds like you are scanning talk groups that might not be carried on the site you listening to.

Well here's a problem you can't fix: the first 3 talkgroups you list are fully encrypted, and you will not be able to hear any transmissions without the encryption key and the utility program supplied by Unication. If you are not authorized to monitor these encrypted talkgroups, you're out of luck. If you look at the RR database listing for this agency, you'll notice a "DE" in the mode column next to 1075, 76, and 77 talkgroup entries. The D=digital and the upper case E=full time encryption.

Oh, well I now I know to look out for the encrypted channels since they're basically impossible to scan.

Thanks for the advice
