Hello, I have a uniden bcd325p2.
I want one talk group - but not the major channel it stems from.
How do I get the talk group (one small fire department), but not the whole county metro dispatch?

Program the entire system and then avoid all that you don’t want. You could also avoid those sites that aren’t close to you also…

You can select which talk groups to record in software.

Well, no...that column has no bearing on the 325P2 or any portable scanner. That column is solely for the DMA base/mobile scanners which have a REC jack on the rear. That parameter determines whether the scanner sends audio to that jack or not.

So is there a way to lock out the whole trunk EXCEPT the 1 talk group I want? So that the only way my radio talks is if that specific talk group talks?

program the truncked radio system with the only talk group you want to listen to and set it to id scan, if you use id search you will hear everything on the system.

I thought I did that. Haven't heard anything since I did that.
Gonna reset and start over.

Or you could share your knowledge and post it here in case others have the same type of issue.

ok, then.
but if you want to record everything the radio receives and only have it on a few (or one) talkgroup this is how.
i see saline fire has a couple of talkgroups on the system'
12346 fireground
22348 fire all call
22349 fire station call
and this is on MPSCS
so when scanning that system you can hit HOLD and then type in a talkgroup (22349)
the radio then shows "quick TGID save?" then hit yes.
if the radio is scrolling ID SCAN and you only put in that number, it will be the only thing you will hear.
and you can put in a whole bunch.
if the radio is scrolling ID SEARCH then hit the FUNCTION button and the SCAN button and it will switch.
and you can switch whenever.

Is there a way to do this through freescan?

Yes, it can be done with FreeSCAN.

Look at the Rec Out column on the far right side of the file. Check that box any channel (or talkgroup) that you want to selectively record. Be sure that the 'Simple View' box is not checked. (If you leave it checked, you would not see the 'Rec' column.)

You would need the scanner connected to your PC, and be using the 'Control Scanner' option in FreeSCAN. You also would need an audio patch cable, from the headphone jack on the scanner to the Line or Mic input on the PC's sound card.

That sounds completely at odds with this, from earlier in the thread:
