Good evening to everyone, I am sorry if I am posting this in the wrong forum. My Mother purchased a Uniden BCD996P2 for me. I’m totally blind and need some help getting it programmed. I would use a PC but I use a Mac.

Good morning I think I was suffering from computer fatigue I forgot to mention that I’m located in BOAZ AL. Sorry about that.
Where are you located a member just might be close and can help. All we need to know right now is City and State so we can see if someone is close to you to help.

I saw that a while back, I use to dispatch for them along time ago, I actually talked with the Captain of one of the shifts, and he did mention this, however, he did tell me that this scanner will be able to monitor BOAZ Fire and PD. I actually entered in the frequencies for the AIRS, and did indeed hear them along with others. I’m familiar with the keypad and controls, if I could just learn the order of the menu system, I believe that I would be able to get some things programmed.

Boaz Police and Fire have moved over to the AIRS; their talkgroups are encrypted.

If you are able to monitor those agencies on your scanner, they are definitely not encrypted. There are no scanners that can monitor encrypted transmissions.

Good morning my apologies to all for not replying. My computer just got out of the shop. And I also would like to apologize for my previous post. After looking at it I might have sounded like a smart Alec and that was definitely not my intention. I would like to start over as it were. I’ve been trying to use the Bcprogtool program, but to no avail. The setup screen is trying to run but I keep getting a wish error, and I wish it wouldn’t do that. I’m sorry for the long winded message I am just so frustrated spending almost 4 weeks trying to get this scanner programmed really need some help thank you

As far as what I’ve heard, it may have been someone else I herd I may have been mistaken. If I could get my Mac and the 996P to to talk to each other in terminal mode and the Mac read the screen for me in other words act as a text to speech output I could use the panel and menus and program systems and so forth
