Uniden USB-1 Programming cable

I just made a purchase of a used Uniden BCD996xt, and the previous owner cannot find the usb programming cable-

Can this unit be programmed with a usb to serial converter, and say- an appropriate gender switching serial cable?

If not, is there anyone in Columbia, SC- friendly enough to say, let me borrow one temporarily? I would gladly pay a deposit- I have one on the way, I'm just getting too antsy- and couldn't find a local seller of this particular part.

most usb to serial adapters will work for serial program cable unless you are on windows 8, then there are some tough driver issues to overcome.

Mostly depends if the chip is genuine or counterfeit. If genuine, you should be able to DL the drivers and use them without issue.

wish I had seen your message earlier...

my station went off the air effective june 1st, in preparation for an out of state move..

I have several cables, and have sold off all of my 996's.... but, everything is packed in preparation for the
relocation... wont be able to find or get to anything for a few weeks at least..
