Can Unit IDs be utilized when scanning the full database, or only when scanning Favorite lists? I have several Unit ID's for my local area I'd like to utilize when I'm in my local area, but I scan the full database by location. I'm not currently scanning any Favorite lists.

Why not? Create your local favorites list and turn on that list (which has the ID’s programmed) and then select under “Lists to Monitor” both your FL and “Full Database”.

If by utilize Unit id you mean have the radio display a tag associated with the radio id, no, it will just display the numeric value while scanning the full db. If you want something like K-9 unit to display when the K-9 unit is transmitting, you need to enter the unit id and an alpha tag into the system in a favorites list.

It would probably be easier to append every system you usually scan in the DB to a favorite list and then add those user id's. Whenever the DB updates with different data for your area you will have to do that append again, or look at RR's database to see what has changed and then manually edit those changes to your favorite lists.

But you can also edit the Uniden DB to add those user id's. A favorite list and Uniden DB uses the same format so it will be possible to copy from the raw favorite list to the raw State file in the DB.

Maybe Proscan already have that feature, then move your SD card from the scanner to a SD card reader on your PC, it will be much quicker to edit. But if Proscan doesn't have it then you can try and edit manually.

Go to the favorite folder on the SD card and look in the f_list.cfg file using Windows text editor Notepad. There you will see the name of your favorite lists and what file name they use in the "f_0000xx.hpd" naming format. Use Notepad to open the hpd file where you have your user id's, do not use the word wrap feature in Notepad, and locate where the UID's are. They will be just above the Site info and will look something like this:

Trunk Name Of System Off DmrOneFrequency On Off Auto Ignore Srch 18 18 0 Off Off Ignore
DQKs_Status Off Off Off Off Off Off
UnitIds User 1 12112 Off Auto Off On
UnitIds User 2 12307 Off Auto Off On
UnitIds User 3 12317 Off Auto Off On
Site Name Of Site Off 0.000000 0.000000 0.0 NFM Standard Wide Circle Off 400 Manual 10 Off Srch Global
T-Freq Off 169362500 0 Srch

If you set the cursor to the left of the first "UnitIds" line you can then hold down shift and use down arrow to mark all those UnitIds lines and then select to Copy.

In the SD cards Profile folder you will have sub folders with the name of the profiles you have created. Go into the one you are currently using and then into its HPDB folder. The hpdb.cfg file will tell you what filename that your state are using. Illinois have state ID 17 so open up the s_000017.hpd file using Notepad.

You can use the Search function to find your system and it will look something like this:

Trunk TrunkId=10063 StateId=17 Southwestern Illinois Digital Group WS9IDG Off DmrOneFrequency
AreaState TrunkId=10063 StateId=17
AreaCounty TrunkId=10063 CountyId=672
Site SiteId=32420 TrunkId=10063 Shiloh Off 38.561438 -89.897323 25.0 AUTO Standard Wide Circle
T-Freq TFreqId=0 SiteId=32420 444300000 1 7

Set the cursor to the Site line and push enter to move it down one line and then paste the UnitIds text that you just copied to the empty line.

Trunk TrunkId=10063 StateId=17 Southwestern Illinois Digital Group WS9IDG Off DmrOneFrequency
AreaState TrunkId=10063 StateId=17
AreaCounty TrunkId=10063 CountyId=672
UnitIds User 1 12112 Off Auto Off On
UnitIds User 2 12307 Off Auto Off On
UnitIds User 3 12317 Off Auto Off On
Site SiteId=32420 TrunkId=10063 Shiloh Off 38.561438 -89.897323 25.0 AUTO Standard Wide Circle
T-Freq TFreqId=0 SiteId=32420 444300000 1 7

Now exit and save that s_000017.hpd file back to the SD card and you can also copy that file to your PC as a backup, as if you download a new database it will write over the edit you have done, but you then just use the backup and can copy and paste the user ID's again from the backup or copy the file and overwrite the one in the DB if you don't care much about the updates, if any, that have been done to the Illinois file.

I haven't tested this myself but it should work as the scanner process the info in the DB and favorite lists in the same way.

you must have a lot of dead air time by scanning the whole database when you can only hear one or two percent of it.
I scan by location....utilizing a GPS, I guess I assumed everyone would understand what scanning by location. No dead air space d/t scanning.

I have a favorite list for my area with the UIDs, but with the scanner in the car, I scan by location, range set by the database, thus I don't use the favorites so I am not double scanning some frequencies when in range. Just trying to figure out if there was a way to enter the UIDs so that they were available to the full database.

I think this will do what I'm hoping to do. I will post back if it works. I don't know if I'll get to it tonight, if not probably the first of the week.

If the fav list contains the unit ids of interest on your local system, you can set that system to Avoid in the full database and just enable location in your fav list with that system containing the unit ids. Then your not double scanning because the system in the db is avoided.
