Unitrunker setup

I just installed a discriminator tap on my pro-2045 scanner and downloaded unitrunker, I fallowed the instructions on how to get it setup and running and it's working like a charm. I have tried the program on the Bell Fleetnet - Ontario Provincial Government Zone 1, A edacs standard system, A Motorola Type II Smartnet system and a 420 mhz MPT-1327 Standard system and it's decoding perfectly. I now have to go into the help files and find out how to decipher all the information this program is collecting. Very interesting watching a system and how it works.

One question I have is, I just set the program up and have not tweaked anything or changed the setup as of this time, I don't see the frequencies come up that belong to these systems when decoding a system, are the frequencies that belong to the system in a different form or are they in a window in the program that I have not found yet ???

I see in the help files screen shots of the program decoding different systems and the first line in the screens are showing all the frequencies that belong to the system that's being decoded, how do I get the program to show the frequencies.

Thanks for any information you can provided me, I have a lot to learn about the program and information it is providing and I know it will take some time to learn but it's great to get the program up and running.

Hi Steve;
For P25 the program will usually provide frequencies.
For Motorola, the program will usually provide frequencies for 800 and 900 mhz. You may need to manually fill in the frequency of the active control channel. For Motorola UHF and VHF - you will need to either fill in the frequencies manually or fill out a band plan. Downloading the system from the RR DB will usually give you the band plan.
For MPT1327 - you will have to fill out a band plan or manually fill in each frequency.
For EDACS - you will have to manually type in each frequency.

Thanks Rick for the information, i was hopping the program would find all frequencies belonging to a system, also I am hopping to be able to use this program in the future to figure out LTR Systems and the LCN order of LTR systems, if posible in future releases of unitrunker, I have about 15 LTR Standard Systems I would like to decode.

Hey Rick - I just started using UniTrunker again after a while without, and have it running on my machine with an MPT1327 system. I find that I'm incorrectly getting "VOC" in the CT column on multi-channel systems with voice traffic on channels other than control. Example, control is 424.1625, a transmission comes up on 424.4125, and VOC appears in the CT column. I'm running with a single scanner (BC72XLT) off the earphone jack. If you want full logs, I think I have them.

In this context (MPT1327) a call type of VOC means voice. The other call types are DAT (data) and TRN (transaction).

I hate to ask, but is there an ETA for a new release that includes the fix for the 456 issue? I've been using Etrunker which works, kind of. The priority function doesn't quite work right, as it skips in the middle of transmissions. Extremely annoying. I've lost patience with that... so..

Just curious is all.

I recently did the same kind of thing. Got bored last night and decided to tap my PRO-93. After successfully managing to not destroy the radio (I'm much better at soldering big stuff - who isn't?) I got Unitrunker up and running in no time. The RR import feature worked perfectly the first time. My biggest problem now is logging who belongs to which radio ID so I can have their unit numbers come up appropriately. This program is so much fun!

Unitrunker appears so simple, yet is so loaded with features... Rick, you are THE MAN!

Is there a way you can make it so it doesn't require you to uninstall the previously installed version from your computer......I have Vista, and for some reason it is not allowing me to uninstall the older version of unitrunker (I think due to a windows update), therefore I will not be able to upgrade.

Not at this time. If you can provide info on the errors reported by the un-installer - we can work from that end.

There is just no option to uninstall it in the add/remove programs menu. Unitrunker isn't the only program with this problem. I ended up deleting the unitrunker files....After finding this out I ended up deleting the unitrunker files (probably wasnt a good idea)

Unitrunker is always listed on the add/remove programs page of Windows for me. I don't know how it'll behave now that I moved it from the default install directory to a different one (manually, after install), but it's there.

Nope, No change button either. No options come up when I highlight UniTrunker.

If yes ... try the "repair" option. If the repair succeeds - then go back and try the "remove" option.

If this option does not appear - or does not work - try this as a last resort.

I think my old laptop (Win98 OS) just isn't up to the new P25 system here. I had used it before with various Moto and EDACS systems but never had an opportunity to try it on a strong signal P25. Does this sound reasonable?

I moved to my new laptop (XP) and am getting a very nice display on Uniscope and UniTrunker is getting 96 - 100 % decode. That same radio feeding the old laptop gets nothing but very disappointing hash on the screen in Uniscope and the dreaded "no signal" in UniTrunker.

Yes.

The line impedance on Win98 laptop's sound input is probably something like 600 ohms (eg. relatively low). All I can suggest here is to insert a small buffer amp.
