Hi Dave;

Expect a delay when doing this. If you get impatient and try to close the program - it will display a "Are you sure ? Yes/No" confirmation dialog. Sometimes this dialog gets placed behind the main program window but you can see it on the taskbar. Dismiss the confirmation dialog by clicking yes/no as appropriate.

As a last resort ... right-click on the task bar and select the task manager. You should be able to kill any unwanted program from there (without rebooting).

I don't see the taskbar when UniTrunker is running. It takes the whole screen.

How long should this delay last? I've waited as long as 5 minutes, which in computer time is several eternities.

BTW, I don't have to reboot to kill the program. CTRL-ALT-DEL brings up the XP task manager.

Press the Windows button to bump Windows out of full-screen mode (and see what's on the taskbar).

Not that long unless there's a hidden confirmation dialog - as described above.

Good ... I thought you were re-booting.

An update to the two problems I experienced.
The display of the two line error message is not there if I remove all my previous files and run the system as new. I then went into the HZ file and there were entries in the PL column. I returned those to "0.0" and the problem with the error message is gone.

As for the second and more serious issue.
- The freezing problem is not limited to Motorola systems. It seems like the EDACS is the only one that will keep running after traffic is seen on the system. MPT1327, SCAT, EDACS48 all freeze with the one computer.
- input through sound card or slicer makes no difference.
- I did get the EDACS to freeze by making the status bits higher (24). I dropped it back to 16 and it still wouldn't work. I went to 8 and it started working again. I then tried dropping the bit level on other trunked systems that froze with no luck.
- changing to different scanners or my Maxtrac make no difference

Problem computer:
Dell w/ P4 1.3GHz, 384mb RAM
- Win XP Home version 2002 service pack 2 (with all critical updates installed)
- soundcard is Creative SB Live! Value (WDM) (no updates available)
- only other program running is my Norton AV (which has been on for every other version.)

Other computers
IBM 380XD pentium I w/ 64mb RAM
- Win 95
- default sound on motherboard (may be Crystal audio system)

Dell w/ P4 2.53GHz, 1gb RAM
- Win XP Home version 2002 service pack 2 (with all critical updates installed)
- soundcard is Soundmax OEM card
- running Outlook and Norton AV

Were you succesfully using a previous beta or is this a first time install?

This is the first time using.

OK. You also need to make sure that audio is getting to the programme.

Use the tuner application that is in the Unitrunker directory to tune your radio to a known control channel.
Check your soundcard >recording< properties to make sure the correct audio source is selected (usually microphone).
Check the soundcard >playback< properties and make sure the microphone input and master volume are not muted.

Do you hear the control audio through the PC speakers? If yes you can mute the microphone in the >playback< properties of the soundcard.

Start Unitrunker and go to the Options settings. Make sure the decoder is showing 'online'. Save and exit that menu. Go to the Receivers options. Select Default sound input, 44100 sample rate and 16 for bit rate. set voice radio to none. Save the settings and shut Unitrunker down (shouldn't need to but I've found it's more reliable to do this).
Restart Unitrunker. - Hopefully it is working?

If it doesn't, go back to the recievers settings and try changing the bit rate to 24.

Nothing! Last night I had a no signal message but then it changed to the error message that I have now. I have followed all the instructions I can find and read all the messages that I think might help me. Still nothing. Any other ideas?

First, my computer doesn't have a Windows key. However, I changed the parameters on the UniTrunker launcher to have it run in a window instead of full screen. Then I tried setting up my BCD996T as a voice receiver again.

Still freezes. No dialog boxes appear inside or outside the window. When I click the window close icon, I do see the "Whoa!" dialog.

Again, I have let UniTrunker sit after pressing Save for over 5 minutes.

Srobo -- you are using a discriminator tap for your audio source, correct? Earphone or speaker out will not work.

Discriminator tap. I was playing around with it and it gives the error when I turn it online. I tried all options in the receiver setup and nothing worked. Maybe my tap is not right. I can hear the control channel through the speakers on my computer.

Here is what I think is a large part of the confusion.

If you change your [R]eceiver settings ... and select ave - the screen does not update automatically like it should. When playing around with different receiver settings (signal input related settings in particular) - press the F5 key for force the screen to refresh. Otherwise you will still see the old, stale status at the top of the screen.

In summary, after changing signal input settings on the [R]eceivers panel, select ave and then press F5.

Try this:

Run the UniScope program. Find a combination of settings that produce a decent looking waveform.

Run Unitrunker and duplicate those settings. As Morfis suggests, leave the voice radio to "none". ave the updated receiver settings and press F5 to see the results.

Hi Dave;
If the voice radio is set to "none", does it allow you to save your [R]eceiver settings?

Anyone had any luck controling a bc245xlt as the voice scanner with Unitrunker? Tried several things with no luck. Used the "Tuner" program, still nothing. Everything matches the scanner settings, Baud rate, Data bits, ect. but I can't get it to work.

I hate to ask this but ... is the radio in remote mode?

Yes. And the computer I'm useing only has one com port. Was/am using Etrunk with the bc245xlt as voice scanner with no problems.

Nope. Regardless of any settings (even if I make no changes at all), as soon as I hit SAVE in the Receivers menu, the program freezes. F5 has no more effect than Escape or any other key.

Hi Magnus;

What listening or park mode are you using? I'd suggest avoiding the "Mute" park option. Use one of the other three.

Looks like that did it. Thanks.
