Been logging a few systems and have been adding tags and channel info. I was locked onto one of the system's control channels and we had a power outage today. I came home and turned the PC back on and now all of the tags that I added are gone. It's like it started over from scratch. I like to leave it running to catch new talkgroups, but I'm afraid to leave it running now due to possibly losing my main system which has a LOT of info entered.

This used to happen on the older UniTrunker program, so I set the files to read-only, which kept it from deleting my entries. This obviously did not allow auto-saving of new talkgroups, but saved me hours of re-entering data.

Is there anything I can do to keep UniTrunker from deleting info?

Hi Scott!

The program writes your data to disk when ...

1. you exit the program or
2. you click Save on the Archive tab or
3. Windows notifies the program of imminent power loss (eg. low battery), or
4. once an hour when Auto Save is on.

When the program saves you data to disk, it renames the current Unitrunker.xml file to Unitrunker.xml.1 (or .2, .3, and so on). Setting the XML file to read-only does not prevent renaming the file nor does it prevent saving a new XML file.

Risk of data loss is most certain if power is lost while the program is running. If, by chance, power loss happens while the program is writing data to disk, you may get an incomplete file. Otherwise, loss is limited whatever data was accumulated in memory.

Look at the Archive tab to see how many archived copies of your data is available. You may have a slightly older snapshot that is still useful to you. To revert to the old snapshot, click the "Take Me Back" button.

I found the "Take Me Back" button, but it apparently never saved the data that I had before the power outage. I now know to save the data after major changes. Thank you for the explanation and for this wonderful program! It makes scanning fun again, even with a fully encrypted system.

I have another problem with Uni. Somewhat related to data corruption of sorts.
Sometimes when uni gets it's first seconds of cc, it opens two site dialogs. One with correct data, and other with 0000-2c2 system.
I just usually delete that.
From recently, sometimes it forcefully 'delegates' my main system to that dud system. I can't de-delegate it (as per manual). So i have to roll back considerably (and lose logs) to 'erase' that dud system. There's been this bug with this particular system for a long time, but the 'forced delegation' thingie is recent.

Happened numerous times to date. May still have logs (save points) that were affected.

Make sure Discover is not checked. If you have a decode log of when this happened, please sent it to me.
